ParticipantEach of my users are affiliated with a community (non profit association)- I currently have a database of 35,000 communities. How do I set up the user profile form and registration so the user can affiliate with one of these communities? The user would need to be able to search the database and select the appropriate community and if their community is not yet included in the DB, they would be able to create a new record in the community DB.
The community db is located on the Business directory plugin (which is on a separate subdomain of WPMS)
1. How do I set up the profile field to allow for a db query and selection?
2. Do I modify the cmap template or is it already set for this? Can I use a separate db query plugin to perform the search etc and not have it conflict with Connections?

Well, honestly I only partially follow what your asking. I understand the you have a community db on a subdomain use the Business Directory plugin. and you want a method for a user search the db and add a new community if one does not exist.
What I do not get exactly is how this relates to Connections and its template cMap. Could you explain?

GuestSorry I did not make myself clear. I selected cmap, but it could be one of the other templates. In order to post a question in the support forum, you need to select one of the templates. Maybe slim plus, I am just not sure which will work best for me. I would have set up the Community directory using Connections (perhaps Cmap), however, I needed a rating and comment feature and you indicated (in a separate rely) that that extension would not be available until later this year. So this is just a work around.
Clarification if needed: the Community record includes a dozen fields with specifics about the community.
I want to set up a user directory with Connections. I want a field in the user directory record to establish a relationship with the directory of Communities. That community may already exist in my db of communities in the Business Directory plugin and I want to make sure the correct relationship is made. The only way I see that being done is having the user select the community from the existing database of communities. Is it possible to include on the user registration form the ability to search the Community db, then allow the user to select the appropriate one. If the community does not already exist, then the user “community” entry made by the user creates a new record in the community database. And future members of that community who register will be correctly grouped.
Perhaps this would be easier if both the Community Db and the User Db, were created using Connections.
I appreciate your input
