ParticipantEver since installing the plugin, I am no longer able to create a post or a page. I get a 500 error when trying to access either of those sections. If I disable your plugin, then I can add a post or a page just fine.
And my hosting company (GoDaddy) is extremely unhelpful and cannot provide me with the details of the 500 error. So I’m not sure what I can do now. I paid for several extensions and populated the directory with hundreds of people. I would hate to not be able to use it now because of this error.
Any ideas on how to solve this?

It seems unlikely Connections would be the cause because it does not do anything during a post/page save. Well, there is one small this it does, it check for the
[connections]shortcode and cleans up common errors. But that only occurs when the shortcode is on the page.Perhaps there is somehow a conflict with another plugin where this manifests only when both are active during a save. Have you tried deactivating other plugins while Connections is activate?

GuestHi Steven,
I am also having the issue with 500 error occurring on all pages that uses the Connection plug in. I have deactivated the plug in on my site until I am able to get this working again.
Please advise.
Thank you,

I figured it out. I was running PHP 5.6 and your plugin appears to require PHP 7.X to work. Once I upgraded to PHP 7.1, everything started working again.
Thanks!

Please try the solutions provided in these tutorials:
Also, login into your web host control panel. Many hosts allow you to chose the PHP version to run. WordPress recommended PHP version 7.1 as it runs WP much faster while being far more resource efficient. If this option is not available in the web host control panel contact their support team. This is something they usually can easily change.
I hope this helps!

Great to hear you were able to resolve the issue!
Connections does not require PHP version 7.1, but like WordPress itself, it does run faster using less resources.
Here’s an example…
I was assisting another user the last week which had the memory limit set to 256MB, but the web host was “hard” limiting usage to about 170MB. Meaning as a user you could set any high value and PHP would report that value but the web host would only allow 170MB of actual usage.
This user had Divi, JetPack and WooCommerce and a few other small plugins activated. Even without Connections installed and activated most of the available memory was in use. Activating Connections put the user over the limit in some cases like the directory page, where more memory would be required, and intermittently on the Manage admin page. Everything else seemed to work fine.
I have been modernizing the code base in the last many updates which does use slightly more memory on older version of PHP. So, perhaps, your available resources were already borderline and the latest changes just push it over the edge.
Also keep in mind, other plugin you install also take resources and if there are updates which add features, this also increase resource requirements.
Hope this helps, explain it the issue better!
