Please let me know if the following functionality is achievable using the Connections Plugin. The directory will have about 450 entries, all individuals. At least two Connections custom fields will be added to the default template. Cimy User Manager is used for login on the website. About 3/4 of the individuals in the directory are expected to register for access to the private area on the website where the directory will be located. WP-Customer Area is used for the private area. The initial directory setup will be done by the administrator. Is it possible for a registered user to add his own photo and make updates to his own entry? The user would need to have access to update only his own entry and no one else’s. I would also like to relocate the custom entries. Right now they fall below the photos. Since all the individuals in the directory are not expected to register for access to the private area on the website Admin would update entries for users who do not register and those who chose not to do their own updates.

Yes, you will need the Link extension (required) and will likely want the Form extension (optional).

The custom fields display block? The only way to move that would be to edit the PHP file for the template. If you are comfortable with PHP this is a relatively simply change.

Yesterday I made the first purchases; a template, CSV Import, and Custom Category Order. I don’t think that I will need Form but I appreciate the advise on Link. I will add that once it is up and running. I am interested in contact but want to be sure that I understand the functionality. Some users are concerned about publishing their email addresses even though the access is “private”. I am looking for an email service that would allow the option to receive an email without displaying their email address to the community. Would ‘Contact’ allow this option on an entry by entry basis or does it have to be applied to the entire directory?Also, I need to change the labels in the tile-plus template. “Home Phone” to “Local Phone” for example. Is modifying the PHP my only option?

It is applied to the entire directory.

No, you do not need to edit PHP to make this change. See this QuickTip on how to change labels and other text in Connections to change those to change that label.
