The zipcode search is working just fine, except there are a lot of website users who, after typing in a zipcode, do not select the result from the autocomplete :-(.
Then of course the result is not what they expect…
Can you think of any solution to prevent this? Maybe an error when pressing Search if the autocomplete is not selected?
In my case there will never be a search without a zipcode.

Because visitors also fill in the name of a city instead of the zipcode, I would like to put a pattern on the inputfield.
Is that possible?

RE: Can you think of any solution to prevent this? Maybe an error when pressing Search if the autocomplete is not selected?
I had tried various solutions all were kind of buggy in some way. Probably these best solution is to clear the field if a user does not make a choice so it is a little more obvious they are not search based on distance.
I plan on rewriting this addon soon(ish) building using as new WordPress Editor block. I can investigate options again at that point.

Possible, yes, you would have to edit the plugin file to do so.
Here’s a quick article on a couple suggestions in dealing with zip and form inputs.
Hope this helps!02/14/2019 at 12:42 pm #484637
Thanks for answering my questions.
I edited the plugin, trying your suggestion with the pattern.
But there was no errormessage, because field stays empty if autocomplete is not selected :-)
Adding ‘required’ did the trick.

Immediatly after the adjustment I get a visitor who tells me it still can go wrong.
If they press Enter instead of pressing the Search button, the ‘required’ message does not show.
What can I do about that?

None seems to work.
You can type anything you want, no matter the pattern, and then press enter.02/15/2019 at 9:16 am #484725Steven ZahmKeymaster
