Hi! The directory I want to create will have quite a few people who only have a first name, so I have a couple of questions. I’m sorry if these have been asked before, I promise I searched and checked all the settings before posting!
- Is it possible to make the last name not required when adding an entry? If not, is there some code or something I could use where if I put in a fake last name like “none” it will just hide it, or do you have any other suggestions for how to accomplish this?
- Then, is it possible to have the directory page sort by first name instead of last name, since some people don’t have a last name?
I think that’s all I need to know for now.
Thanks!03/27/2019 at 1:32 pm #488209Steven ZahmKeymaster

Sorry, but last name is a requirement. I can not think of working around this requirement. The best solution I can think of off the top of my head is to instruct those users to add
noneto the last name field.
Oh… here’s a thought… Use the Field Configuration settings to set the default entry type to Org and hide the other two type options. You could then rename the Org field to be
Of course using this method you would lose the ability to sort by first/last names.

Yes, the list can be sorted by first name. Here’s the link to the doc:
If you go the route of using the Org field for full name, then you do not need to do this because the directory will already sort by the org field.
Hope this helps, let me know.03/29/2019 at 11:39 am #488396courtneyGuest
Hi! Yes, thank you, I think using the organization field instead will work. I actually had that thought but didn’t know there was a way to change the field names like that. Thanks for the tip!
