ParticipantNew website work in progress:
Using cMap template I have added Form and Link extensions.
Have questions regarding both individually and how they work together.
Looking thru the Forums and FAQs I have not found answers as yet.FORM
http://www.artsandculture.us/directory-signup/
— where do I set email address as required? I just submitted a listing with no email address. Surely the email is needed to link back to the directory listing.
— during the initial Form submission, when or where is the Login setup for the directory listing owner to return and edit their listing?LINK
http://www.artsandculture.us/artist-directory/
— how/where does a directory listing owner login to their listing to submit edits after it has been approved. Do not want to be creating as a WP User. Do I need to add another Login plugin?I have checked Connections Roles: Subscribers and Event Contributors with permissions Add Entry Moderated and Edit Entry Moderated

Right now they do not work together. They serve two distinct purposes purposes. Form is to allow site visitor [unregistered users] to submit an entry for moderation for the directory. So only at minimum, only a name is required.
If you intent is to allow users to maintain their own entry, then that is the purpose of Link. Link requires a WP User account because it relies on WordPress login authentication. Link does not just Link an existing direct entry to a WP user, the user if they do not have a directory entry can also use the edit page to submit an entry.
The link to the edit entry screen for Link can be found in the upper right menu item in the menu bar. You can copy/paste that link and put it in a page if you want, be default, WordPress will show the login page before taking the user to the page. You could also use one of the may user login plugins if you want.
I hope that helps.

GuestThe purpose of the website directory is to allow a person to add themselves or their organization and then once approved at a later date be able to login and update their listing.
My understanding is FORM will allow someone to submit their Directory Entry without needing to be logged into WP Admin and LINK will allow someone to login to WP Admin with limited Subscriber permissions to edit their Directory Entry.
I have created some test Directory Entries
http://www.artsandculture.us/artist-directory/and created a test WP User Subscriber using same password as one of the Directory Entries
username/password – aaron/cotepercussion
http://www.artsandculture.us/wp-admin/users.php?page=connections_linkI am now at a loss of how to connect a Directory Entry with a WP User.
LINK: If I login to the test Subscriber WP Admin the Directory Entry is blank. How do I connect an existing single Directory Listing with a single User? I have tried logging out and back in several times.
FORM: If email address is not required how do I contact the person to give them WP User Login access to update their listing in the future?
I read your response to post on http://connections-pro.com/documentation/link/faqs/ which appeared to address the issue but my User and Directory Entry are still not linking! I see Mike had a question about email address too.

Ahhh, I understand. There are actually quite a few people that are doing exactly what you’re doing. If the link is not occurring when you login the first time as the test user, something is preventing the action Link fires from running. I’ve identified a few membership plugins that do a redirect before allowing other plugins fire their login action. Do you by chance have a membership type plugin installed?
Can I get a temp admin account to take a look? Log back in and post the details as a private reply or use the contact link at the bottom of the page.

Sorry, did not know this was a multi site setup … I’m going to need a super admin account instead so I can add users for testing, view installed plugins and get at the plugin editor.

Ok, I updated Link to a newer yet to be released version that contains a few tweaks. I then added a test entry a test user and then logged off and logged back in as that test user and the two were linked as expected. So all seems well now.

GuestThank you.
I did a test entry like yours:
added a Directory Entry using FORM,
added a new WP User,
logged in as new User and saw the test Directory Entry with the content I had just created.I still do not understand how we communicate the WP User Username and Password details after a Directory Entry has been submitted if the email address field is not required and so not completed.
What am I missing? Is this where I should also be using a Membership Plugin? In which case should the Membership application be completed first, before the person has access to the page with FORM?
If I create a Signup page to setup the Membership credentials that will create the WP User and also give access to the FORM page, will LINK make the connection between the new Member and their Directory Entry after their Entry has been approved?
Sorry if I am sounding really dense!
Thanks again -
