ParticipantIs there a good way to sort between individuals/organizations? Additionally, is it possible to associate individual entries to an organization entry?
E.g., People A, B, and C work for Org X.
I, a directory user, is searching for a service and know what org X works with it, but I’m really looking for person C. I want to be able to click the org name and see the individuals who work in that org.
Also, is there a way to combine multiple categories in the category sidebar?

I’ve done custom directories like you describe. This does require some custom coding. A small part of this is now an extension you could pull from here:
https://github.com/Connections-Business-Directory/Entry-Organization
Basically this add on changes the organization field when entering a new individual to a drop down where only previously entered organizations can be chosen.
You would then list only organizations in your directory.
The template would still have to be altered in ways which would list the individual in an organization.
If you are a PHP dev yes you could do this. If not you would need to hire a dev like myself to make the necessary changes.
Could you explain what you mean by “combine multiple categories“?

ParticipantHow much would PHP dev like that cost?
By combine multiple categories I mean finding overlap. Instead of querying just “health”, for example, being able to query “health” and “services in Spanish” and only displaying the entries that have both listed as categories.

The costs would range widely. There are sites where you can hire a dev which can be fairly inexpensive. Code quality from my experience can be iffy. I’ve had others in the past decide to use a service like that only to end up having me fix things to for them. So you mileage may vary. In the past projects that I’ve done like this the fees were around a couple hundred. Really this would depend on what the exact specifics of the project. For a quote, you can contact me using the link at the very bottom of the page.
Yes, it is possible to create links to return results where an entry must be in the requested categories. Example:
my-site.com/directory/?cn-cat-in%5B%5D=1976&cn-cat-in%5B%5D=1981&cn-cat-in%5B%5D=2048You would replace the numbers in the example with the categories ID numbers. Hope this make some sense!
