ParticipantHi Steven,
Just to clarify, can I have two Slim Plus Template Layouts and use the 2nd one for a different layout on a different page.
i.e.
XY Page – Uses Slim Plus Template 1, limit records by Category Range
XXYY Page – Uses a different Slim Plus Template layout, Template 2, limit records by ID number
Use the template shortcode with the appropriate template name on each page.
Can I activate more than one template at the same time?
Anything special that I need to know?
Thanks.
Regards,
Ray

What exactly do you mean by layouts? I’m confused.
Can you use Slim Plus on two different pages?
Yes.
On those two pages different pages, can you limit one by category and another entry ID.
Yes.
Examples:
Limit by category:
[connections category="ID#"]Limit by entry ID:
[connections id="ID#"]re: Can I activate more than one template at the same time?
No, you can only activate one template per template type but you can use the template shortcode option to override the active template.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Steven,
Thanks for the quick response.
What I mean by ‘layout’ is a different looking listing ‘layout’ then the default. i.e. One would have less fields than another and have some fields positioned differently.
In other words I would like to use Slim Plus as I do now, but have it look differently on two different pages via two different templates.
Using the ‘template shortcode option’ I could place the appropriated template on the page.
Your answers seemed to confirm that I could do that in principle.
I am not just sure how to setup a different template layout?
How do I find out which template I am currently using?
Where are the file/s located in the directory?
Which files would need to be edited by me?
Can I just copy the existing template file/s, make a copy and rename it?Can you clarify the above?
I would be more than happy to pay you to do it but I would need it within a week or two. Would that be possible?
I could send you a mock up etc if you are interested.
Please let me know.
Regards,
Ray

Oh, I see. Basically your need to create an alternate version of Slim Plus… basically you would simply have a second template that just happens to look like Slim Plus. This is definitely doable… I run every template on this site on different pages.
You would start out by copy pasting the source template files to a new directory in the plugins folder. For example, the source files for Slim Plus would be found here:
../wp-content/plugins/connections-slim-plus/But after that is gets mildly difficult because you need to make quite a few changes to the PHP files in order to register it as a separate template. This is definitely outside the scope of what I can do in the support forums.
That said…
Yes, if you want to send me a mock up I can give you a quote and timing. Please contact me using the Contact link at the bottom of this page about this. Please paste the URL of this support thread in the message so I can relate the two.
Look forward to hearing from you.
