ParticipantHello,
There isn’t a subforum for Siteshot under Extensionx, hence me posting this here.
I’m using your excellent plugin a little different than probably intended as we don’t require full directory functionality. Instead I just have a single page with an accordion and have a category in every accordion section, with just business contact information and an occasional note.

Ideally I would like a siteshot thumbnail where the red rectangles are (for every listing, just didn’t carry only drawing the rest). I’ve tried adding attributes to the category tag (e.g. [connections category_in='2' image_width=255 image="siteshot"]) without success.
I’d be grateful if you could please point me in the right direction.

Question, are you using the Default Entry Card template? If you are, I just identified a bug which would prevent SiteShot working while investigating this for you.
I can apply a hot patch to get this working for you on your site wo you do not have to wait for updates to be release.

GuestSteven,
You are correct, I am using the Default Entry Card template.
I just updated the Siteshot plugin (I believe to V1.6). Is this the hotfix you were referring to? (I’m guessing probably not and particularly as my shortcode still isn’t working)
If not, yes, please send the hotfix to my listed e-mail address.
Kind regards,

The update to SiteShot was half of it. I had to add a single line of code.
Connections still needs a small change. If you can supply a temp WP admin login, details posted here as a private reply, I can log in and make the change asap. Aftwards you can delete the temp account.
If you are familiar with PHP and would like to make the tweak, here’s the change:
I’ve also updated the instructions so they are applicable to the template you are using:
Basically, you do not use the shortcode, you select the SiteShot Image Type in the Template Customizer. Make sure to read the Tip after the instructions!
Hope this helps, let me know if you would like me to make the change.
ps. This change will also be in the next Connections update which I hope to release by end of week.
pss. The reason for this change is that SiteShot was only ever designed to work with the premium templates, not the freely included one. This is actually mention right in the product description. Honestly, I am not sure why I made this distinction. Wanting to use this with the free templates has not actually come up before now. Upon reviewing this I really see no reason to have this artificial limitation. These changes simply add support for SiteShot in the free templates.
Apologies for the trouble!!!

GuestSteven,
Firstly, please accept my apologies for completely missing the fact that Siteshot was intended for use with premium templates only. I’m sure I must have read that description at some point, but it clearly didn’t sink in. Additionally, thank you for re-evaluating this policy.
I’m not sure I’d go as far as to claim I’m “familiar with PHP”, but I was able to follow your instructions successfully:

Finally, (and I fully appreciate I’m probably really pushing my luck here, as it’s falling into the remit of template customisation) but I would be very grateful if you could point me in the direction of how I can move the Company Name above the Siteshot, rather than it being below as it is currently.
If that’s too much to ask, I fully understand and we’ll just make do as it is (CSS is a bit of a blindspot for me, which I’m trying to fill).
Thanks very much for your assistance regardless; you’ve really gone out of your way to resolve my issue.

Great to hear!

You’ll have to create a custom template override file for the Default Entry Card template. Here’s a tutorial for turning that template into a plugin (addon for Connections).
After you follow those steps you will need to open the
card.phpfile in the folder you copied or moved into the plugins folder. You will want to switch the small blocks of code for the image and the name.Hope that helps!

GuestThanks very much Steve; that should be enough pointers for me to figure it out.
You can mark my thread as resolved.
