ParticipantSteve,
I am trying to put a shortcode inside a shortcode but I am doing something wrong. I have a member-only area set up. In that area, I show on-going projects. For each project, I show the members involved. Each project is associated with a category. I am using the Tile Plus template. I want to be able put most of the template codes in a shortcode that I can use within the Connections shortcode. The only difference from one project to another is the category.
Here is what I tried to do:
Tile Plus repeated code, placed in a shortcode:
template=”tile-plus” enable_search=FALSE show_alphaindex=FALSE show_alphahead=FALSE enable_category_select=FALSE card_width=200 card_height=75 enable_website_link=FALSE show_image=FALSE name_format=’%first% %middle% %last% %suffix%’ show_addresses=FALSE show_phone_numbers=FALSE show_email=FALSE show_im=FALSE show_social_media=FALSE show_dates=FALSE show_links=FALSE enable_map=FALSE allow_public_override=’true’
The shortcode containing the Tile Plus repeated code:
[contentblock id=1706]The shortcode used on the WordPress page:
[connections category='96' [contentblock id=1706]]Attached is an example of the results, showing the “shortcode inside shortcode” results on the top and “everything in one shortcode” on the bottom.
Obviously what I am trying is not working. Do you have any suggestions for how I can do this?
Thanks,
George

Sorry, but the WordPress Shortcode API does not support shortcodes with in shortcodes like that. It is not a Connections limitation or bug. There is no way that I know of to accomplish what you wish to do.
If you want … I do have a beta version of the next version of Tile Plus I could send you. The main difference is that it is in the process of being updated to support the Template Customizer, with that you can set a global default for its options. It has been a couple months since I last worked on it so I can not exactly remember what needs complete and what bugs still need ironed out, but it could be worth a try. Assuming this would be helpful if you are trying to set a single default by using that content shortcode.
