ParticipantHi There,
I’ve exported a directory from an older version of connections (the site was on older wordpress too).
I’ve copied the directory over and added the CMap template and Link – everything looks okay, but I cannot update the listings (even as Admin). The following error occurs
ERROR: Entry could not be updated.
I’m using the S2members plug in. Now, when I installed S2Members, the user levels (1-4) did not appear. I had to deactivate the connections plug in and then install S2Members. Not sure if that had anything to do with it?
I’ve tried the S2Members code snippet thing, but didn’t make any difference.
Any ideas?

You would only receive this error message if WordPress was unable to insert/update a record in the database. Since you mention “old version” I suspect the database structure is not correct.
Navigate to the Connections : Tools admin page and then click the System Info tab.
Scroll to the bottom and generate a remote viewing link and share that link with me. It can be posted here as a private reply.09/22/2016 at 5:00 pm #392717Alan Gunning

I am unable to view the link because the site is redirecting away from it. Likely whatever the plugin you are using to manage the site preview. Save the system info as a text file and attach it as a private reply. Thanks!

Ok, the db structure is definitely out of date. How did you update Connections? I ask because an upgrade should have been triggered.
At this point the only way to do it is to trigger it manually. If you can supply me with an admin login, I can login and make a slight edit to trigger the upgrade.

Ok, I logged in and forced the db update. That seems to resolve the issue. I’m guessing you may have installed Connections before migrating the data and when the data was migrated, the new tables were dropped and the old tables were used. So the plugin would have no idea that the db structure changed and is out of date. That’s my best guess anyway.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantBrilliant – thanks Steven, much appreciated!
Yes, the plugin was installed before the data was grabbed.
thanks again – I can relax now! haha
