ParticipantHello I have installed connections and the Cmap plugin but when I try creating a category I get this error:
ERROR: Could not insert term into the database.
Similarly it wont let me add any entries either.
Also The connections-images folder does not exist have tried disabling and restarting without success – not sure how to use FTP.The message regarding PHP version also comes up we are using PHP 7.3
The “Connections Business Directory” plugin has not been tested on PHP versions newer than 7.1. This is informational only and the plugin should continue to function normally.
Any assistance appreciated
Thanks
Craig

RE: Could not insert term into the database. Similarly it wont let me add any entries either.
The only reason errors like this would occur would be if the tables in the WordPress database have been removed or out of date.
Is this a new installation of Connections or an old one? Have you moved the site?
RE: message regarding PHP version also comes up we are using PHP 7.3
This is simply a information only message. Connections does work fine on newer versions. Connections used to have a minimum requirement of PHP 5.2. So, the max version had to be 7.1. The reason is new versions of PHP deprecates several functions that Connections uses. This mean at some point in 10 years PHP will remove those functions. I have bumped the minimum version to 5.4. Which means I can bump the max version to 7.3 (and newer) after those deprecated functions are remove from Connections. This important bit is that those function will continue to function normally until removed.
So, the short answer is, the PHP version is not the source of the issue you are experiencing.

ParticipantHello Steven.
It is a new installation on a multi site installation. VPS running Apache. The Cmap was installed successfully previously on a test site and worked ok. It ran on PHP 5.3. I have trued a different solution and it is working without issue so we will stick with that, although I personally preferred your offering so will try it again on my own sites if I dont get the image directory issue anyway. Thanks for the speedy response.

Hmmm… new installation, VPS and MS…
I suspect that none of the Connection tables were created upon activation. YOu can verify this by exploring your database. You should many tables that start with
{wpdb-prefix}_connections. If those table do not exist, try deactivating and activating Connections again/ On MS installation, do not activate network wide. Activate only on the child sites where you plan to use Connections. If after doing this and no tables are created then I suspect the database user created for the for WP install does not have the create table privileges.Hope this helps! Let me know.
