ParticipantI recently updated the Connections plugin and was looking through the site to ensure everything is working and noticed that the map on individual and family pages in the directory is blank. I have the Tile Plus template active, and I deactivated the 2.0.1 Connections templates so that the 3.0 default template will not be overridden. I have tried unchecking the Google Map API in Connections > Settings > Advanced, but when I did so the map disappeared, so I re-checked this option to display the map, but it is still blank.
Here is a screenshot of the map: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0d4599id36.-

It’s really hard to say from a screenshot. Here’s what I can tell you…
If two plugins load the Google Maps API on the same page, you can get unpredictable results from Google. I see you did try deactivating the Google Maps API in Connections, unfortunately that does not always work because the other plugin has to have it loaded before Connections needs it. That does not always happen and causes an error would result in no map at all.
From the screenshot, I see there is some non-standard Google CSS being applied to the map. Specifically speaking how the text seems to have a “shadow” and something odd going on with the control icons in the upper left of the map. I only ever really see this when the theme applies styling globally to images and text which negatively impact the Google Map. It is possible the theme is applying a style which is making the map tile image to not appear.
To give you more helpful info, I would need to have access to the page with the issue so I can take a look.
Question for you, is the version of Tile Plus installed 2.0.1? If it is, I suggest updating it to the current version which is 4.1. I’m betting you have version 4.1 installed because the map was not available until 4.1.

ParticipantAll I can say in regards to the possible conflict with Google results is that the map was working, but since I updated Connections it does not work.
The website’s theme does add a shadow to text, so that is why you see that on the map. If the shadow causes the text to be hard to read I then remove it for that particular text on the stylesheet, but it wasn’t too bothersome on the map so I left it. But I can’t see how this would cause an issue because the map was working with no problem.
I did upgrade Tile Plus recently.

This was the theme… this file, line 12:
http://sttimsinhouston.com/wp-content/themes/Nova/css/responsive.css
.flexslider .slides img, #content-area img, #logo { max-width: 100%; width: auto; height: auto; }That
max-width: 100%breaks the image tile display in Google Maps. I made an adjustment to Connections to override the theme’s style. Looks great now.Hope that helps!

ParticipantThat is very interesting, although I don’t get why the theme styles would now conflict with the map loading in Connections.
Thank you for fixing the issue. Out of curiosity, do you know why it now decided to conflict when before there was no issue?

re: Out of curiosity, do you know why it now decided to conflict when before there was no issue?
Well, it is possible an update to the theme added this CSS change. It possible that if this has always existed in the theme that CSS from another plugin was overriding it which “fixed” and an update from that other changed their CSS which no longer “fixed” it.
Another thought, is the map did not exist in versions of Tile Plus before 4.1. So if you recently updated Tile Plus from an older version, this would be the first time the map would have been “broken”.
At any rate, The next version of Connections has a CSS tweak which should help prevent theme’s from setting max-width on the Google Maps image tiles.

ParticipantThat makes sense since there was an update to the theme itself not that long ago, and yes I just updated Tile Plus last month so if it was due to a theme update or plugin update changing what ever was keeping that max-width style from overriding the map then it makes sense that it would have happened now.
Also, thank you for getting the issue fixed.
