I have read the topic on daily export and have done something similar myself. I use the backupbuddy plugin to run a sheduled backup of just the database then use the built in “send” facility to dispatch it to a defined destination. This can be by FTP or several other options such as Dropbox Amazon etc. The unwanted data could then be removed easily and the remainder uploaded as desired. Maybe I am not seeing the whole story but it seems that it might work.
Yes, if you are looking just for a SQL dump of the tables which contains the raw data, that will work. To get CSV file export, you would have to go about it the way I described.
