ParticipantHello.
I would like to customize CMAP.
First is to make the picture a bit larger. Rather than horizontal, I would like to make it more vertical situated. I will be displaying people’s picture more than business logos.
Secondly, I would like to maybe attached a CSS file onto the directory. That way I can maybe add a Google font onto the title and make it colorful.
Third, How to I structure the listings? I would like the names of the people to show on top. Then the name of the business (organization).
Anyways, thats it for now. Thanks.

RE: make the picture a bit larger
Navigate to the Connections : Templates admin page and click the Customize button for the cMap template.
The page will reload with the Customizer on the left and a preview on the right.
Click the back arrow in the upper left of the Customizer and then click the Image panel.
Change the image type to photo, set your desired width, height and crop mode.
Publish the changes.
Take special note of the instructions presented above the directory in the preview.
You will have to follow them in order to customize the display the of single entry profile view of the template.

Most theme’s (not Connections templates) provide a method of adding custom CSS. Generally this is found within the theme Customizer. You can add any custom CSS you may want to add to that space.
RE: How to I structure the listings? I would like the names of the people to show on top. Then the name of the business (organization).
Sorry, I am not exactly sure what you are asking? When adding displaying an Organization entry, you want to display the Contact Name above the Organization name? Is that correct? If it is, the only way to change that would be to edit the PHP of the template.
Perhaps, add the entry as an Individual entry type and then add the business name as the Organization name instead. This will display the entry name above the organization name.
Hope this helps, let me know.

ParticipantHello. Thank you for the prompt response. Sorry for my lack of clarity in asking for advice. You answered my two questions and I’m grateful for your help.
For the 3rd question, here is what I would like to happen:
What I would like to do is to have a feature where users can click the listing and it will show up in alphabetical order.
I’ve seen the feature where if you click a letter like “A” everyone with the last name A shows up.
Secondly, Is there a way for me to create a priority view of a category? For instance, if someone wants to show up first on the Automative category, I can set that business to show up first?
Thanks again.

Sorry, I think I am more confused now… the listing, by default display in alphabetical order but I do not think that is what you are asking about. What do you want to display in alphabetical order?
RE: Is there a way for me to create a priority view of a category? For instance, if someone wants to show up first on the Automative category, I can set that business to show up first?
Sort of yes, but it is not applied on a per category basis. It is applied globally. Using the Custom Entry Order extension you can set a specific order.
- For example, if you set an entry as “Order 1” that entry would display at the top of the list whether or not if the list was filtered by the Automotive category.
- If that entry were in the Automotive category it would also display at the top of the list when it is filtered by the Automotive category.
- If the list is filtered by another category, it would not display at all, like normal.
I hope this makes sense, let me know.

ParticipantHello again.
I just want to create a way for users to click a letter. For instance, letter A. Once they click letter A, it will show up listings with A. Thats all.

Navigate to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Display tab. Enable the Character Index option.
Hope that helps!
