ParticipantHi Steve,
I just bought he Contact extension today and set it up on my site, but I can’t get it to work.
See here:
http://www.ludgatehillpsychotherapy.co.uk/therapists/name/stephen-garratt/The form displays but there is no action when the submit button is pressed. I couldn’t find anywhere that I am meant to configure email settings. Is there something I am missing.

Please try this…
- Navigate to the Connections : Settings admin page.
- Click the Beta Versions tab.
- Enable beta support for the Excerpt Plus template.
- Navigate to the WordPress Updates admin page, this will make WordPress check for updates.
- Navigate to the Plugins admin page. The beta update for the Excerpt Plus template should be available to you. Click update link. This should update to the latest beta.
Does the issue persist?

ParticipantHi Steve,
Thanks for the swift response. I manage to get all the way through the update process, but then I test Contact and it still does not work. I then reload the plugins page and find that the plugin has not updated. See the attached images.Attachments:

I was finally able to replicate the error occuring on your site on my test site. I just pushed an updated beta version, 2.1-beta2.
Repeat the process from my previous reply to update to that version. This also corrects the update loop. It was a simple typo on my part, I did not bump the internal version version so it would report that an update was available even though it was already installed.
Hope this helps, please let me know.

ParticipantHI Steve,
Thanks that worked. The form is now sending emails correctly. I would like to change the “sent from”and the “reply to” fields so that the emails don’t register as suspicious but allow recipients to reply directly to the sender. I will look at this today.
thanks,

ParticipantHi Steve,
I would like to do the following:- Change the ‘from’ parameter to the static ‘webmaster@ludgatehillpsychotherapy.co.uk’
and
- Have a reply-to field which is populated by the email address of the person filling out the form.
I tried to do it like this, but I am a novice…
// Set email to be sent as HTML. $email->HTML(); // Set from whom. $email->from( sanitize_email('stephen@ludgatehillpsychotherapy.co.uk'), sanitize_text_field( 'Ludgate Hill Psychotherapy' ) ); //Set reply to. $email->reply( sanitize_email( $_POST['email'] ), sanitize_text_field( $_POST['name'] ) ); // Set to whom. $email->to( $sendTo, $entry->getName() );04/03/2018 at 9:19 am #457659Steven Zahm

RE: I would like to change the “sent from”and the “reply to” fields so that the emails don’t register as suspicious
I’m guessing you mean in Gmail, correct? Simple solution, don’t send an email to yourself. When the from and to are the same, Gmail will flag that. Second, you should setup your site to use an email host provider. I personally use SendGrid. When properly setup the emails will be signed which mean it will be far less likely to be flagged as spam and marked suspicious (unless you send to yourself ;) )
RE: but allow recipients to reply directly to the sender.
This is already how Contact functions. The from/reply to address is from the sender and sent to is the email address of the entry the email is being sent to.
RE: set reply to
This code will not work:
//Set reply to. $email->reply( sanitize_email( $_POST['email'] ), sanitize_text_field( $_POST['name'] ) );The reason is because there is not
reply()function. Since the Connections email class is simply a wrapper for the core WordPresswp_mail()function you would setup the reply to address similarly. Not tested…$email->header( ‘Reply-To: Person Name person.name@example.com‘ );
Of course you would need to change the above to populate with the variables. But there is no need because the reply to address will default to the from address.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantThanks all working now. Have not yet been able to figure out how to have a different Reply-To to From. but not essential.

RE: Have not yet been able to figure out how to have a different Reply-To to From.
Do you mean Form? The auto reply (to the submitter) already has an option which you can set the reply from name and email. This setting is on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Form tab in the Email Notifications section. Look for the “Auto Reply From Name” and “Auto Reply From Email” options.
The submission notice (admin notification) email does not a reply to setting. I’d have to look at the code to confirm, but I’m pretty certain the email address of the submitter is used as the reply to address.
Hope this helps!
