GuestEverything was working fine until today. I tried updating the plugin (currently running Version 0.7.9.3), and when we did, things came crashing down. Had to restore the entire wordpress site from the previous day’s backup. I then updated WordPress.
Now when I try to Activate Connections, I get a message:
The Connections directory home page has not been set. Please set it now on the Connections : Settings page under the General tab.
and
Connections database requires updatingBut I then don’t have permissions to do Update the database. And, I am unable to navigate to settings at all. The only way out of this conundrum is to deactivate the plugin. It’s been running flawlessly for a year.
Any idea what might be happening?
Thank you,

Which version were you running prior to the update?
sounds like WordPress failed to update the plugin. It’s very rare, but does happen. If that happens again, no matter the plugin, just delete the failed update from the
pluginsfolder using FTP. The will get you back in a running state without having to resort to whole site restores. If your do not have permissions to do db updates, a user that does will have to login. You really should change the db to permit alter table for your WordPress install… WordPress will have a few small db schema changes coming that will require changes.
