ParticipantOK, I’m befuddled on this one.
I place this shortcode structure that works on the homepage, works on the Connections main page, but not the Connections category page. I’ve been through every setting. I’ve triple-checked stuff. I gotta be missing something silly.
The following shortcode
[connections template="names" category_in='31,84' order_by='department|SORT_DESC, organization|ASC']
[connections template="names" category_in='43,84' order_by='department|SORT_DESC, organization|ASC']in a text widget. Category 31 is ‘Accounting’ category 43 is ‘Attorney’ category 84 is what I use to create a ‘Featured’ placement for selected records on the site Homepage. This shortcode is replicated with all the other categories.
When I am on the MAIN connections listings page. The respective records show in their respective places in the widget.
However, if I go to a category page (eg category/automotive), ALL of the respective categories in the widget (eg Accounting Attorney Automotive, etc) display all of the records of the specific /category page I am on.
I’ve likely done a horrible job of explaining, sorry, maybe the screencap will help.
Is there something I have done wrong? Or a way to resolve this?
Thanks.

I suspect the category query var (the category slug from the URL) is being applied to the shortcode too. Try adding
lock='true'to the shortcode. Doing this disables parsing the query variables from the URL for that shortcode instance.11/17/2015 at 3:31 pm #355453Mitch
ParticipantOK, I’ll take your word for it. :)
Yes, adding that did resolve that issue. The only thing that then came up was the ‘return to directory’ link showed up at every one of the line items in the widget. Didn’t want that, but a simple CSS/display hid it in the widget while allowing it in the main Connections listings page.
So it’s all good.
Thanks. Have a great day!
