    with the slim plus template, is it possible to have the alphabet letters at the top which would allow someone to skip to the last name starting with that letter?

    For example selecting the letter S at the top of a list of names would jump to the the names beginning with the letter S.

    Also how can I enlarge the page number links at the bottom of the pages?

    web page is ea74reunion.com/memorials/ This is the shorter list, however when I get all classmates entered there will be 600 or so names to sort through.

    Yes, this feature is available to all templates, even the free ones with Connections. Go to the Connections : Settings admin page. Click the Display tab. Enable the Character Index option.

    You can use CSS to enlarge them.

  font-size: 24px !important;
}

    The first thing you need to do is edit the page that you inserted the [connections] shortcode on.

    Switch the post editor to the Text tab.

    Now, remove the code and/or pre HTML tags from around and/or within the shortcode. If there are any other HTML tags, you should remove those too.

    Save the page.

    Now, how does it look?

    Were there the code and pre tags like I had guessed from you screenshot. Can you post a screenshot showing what it looks like now and a screenshot of the edit page screen while in the visual editor. Do you have a page caching plugin or server caching? If you do, flush the cache. Also do a force refresh on your browser.

    Or, better, yet… share a link to the page with me. My hands are pretty tied to what I can suggest by just looking at a picture … basically I’m guessing rather than giving your solutions.

    Another thing you might want to look at. Open the page with Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab. It appears there may be a fatal javascript error. These are usually always caused by other plugins. Most of the time the offending plugin can be identified by the file name and/or path given as part of the error.

    Oh, I didn’t realize you did give a link! I just happened to notice it after I reread your original post. Apologies!

    It appears you may have turned off the the core CSS required by Connections. That’ll cause you trouble unless you want to completely style every bit of Connections yourself. The template will continue to look mostly/somewhat right because it has its own CSS.

    To reenable to core CSS, go to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Advanced tab. Add a check to the CSS option under compatibility and save.

    After, that is reenabled, let me know and I’ll take a look.

    Sorry for the delay, I didn’t see a email notifying that a response was made.

    I had another question and ran across this response.

    At any rate if you look now, it appears that some things were corrected by following your instructions.

    However the index letter when looking at the whole list isn’t spaced from previous letter with the exception of the first one in the list.

    For example the letter B apears, then a blank line, then the names listed that begin with the letter B.

    Immediately after the last name from that section the letter C appears without a Space or blank line. So it almost appears that the letter C was just word wrapped to the next line.

    Not sure if that makes sense.

    Yep, makes sense. Now with all the CSS being loaded it is much easier to give you a proper solution.

    I just uploaded an update to Slim Plus that contains a few CSS tweak that deal with some spacing issues. You can download it via your purchase history or if you activated your support license key on your site, which it does not appear to be, it’ll show up as a plugin update within 24hrs. I would recommend activating your support license key on this site so your receive updates.

    This should fix the spacing. You also asked about making the character index larger… add the following to the theme’s custom CSS area:

    #cn-list div.cn-alphaindex {
  font-size: 20px !important;
}

    As far as not receiving the reply notifications … according to the email log, the notices were sent to your gmail account. Maybe they ended up in your junk mail???

    Thanks for everything. Looks great now.

    One last question, you had mentioned that the Alpha index is available in all of your themes/templates. Should the need arise to use a different theme for say the alive and well members where we may want to use the tile or other theme, would these same changes work for those?
