re: I’m curious if there is a way to add categories via the CSV import?
Yes, please read this FAQ
re: what shortcode should we use to differentiate between our 4 separate lists?
You would use the category shortcode option.
Hope that helps!

The reason you are seeing this is because the shortcode is on the page twice… Connections uses the same page. Even the URL changes (for SEO) you are always on the same page.
What you to do can be done but you need to change the setup a bit. Here’s how…
- Create a new page, let’s call it “Person” (name is not important but should be relevant). The page contents should be just the
[connections]shortcode with no other options. - Set the “Person” page as the Directory Home Page on the Connections : Settings admin page.
- Edit you current direct page and add
force_home=true]to both shortcodes and save the page.
Now when you click on the profile links in the directory, the will resolve to the “Person” page where the shortcode exists only once so the profile will only be displayed once.
Hope that helps, please let me know.

Categories can be imported and they can be anything you want them to be. There is only one predefined category in Connections and that is “Uncategorized”. To learn how to import categories with the entries using the CSV Import, read this FAQ.
For Slim Plus, if no image is uploaded, by default there would be a placeholder but that can be turned off by using this shortcode:
[connections image_fallback='false']Hope that answers your questions!

KeymasterWhat is the exact shortcode you are using?
Are you receiving any error notices in the admin on the Connections : Manage admin page?
Did you receive any error message when adding an entry with a logo or image?
On the Connections : Dashboard admin page there is a “System” widget. What does that say about GD support?
I took another look at the page, this time the page source…
The image for the logo has this:
class="ov-done"this is not something Connections adds. It seems another plugin or the theme is parsing the page forimgtags and doing “something” with them that is corrupting the tags. Have you installed any new plugin recently or applied updates from other plugins that could cause this?Steven Zahm

re: I can’t get it to switch to the Card Bio template when a name is clicked off the list. If I click a name, it just goes to a list with the one name on it, no more info is displayed. I’m using this on the Directory’s initial page:
Remove the
template=namesfrom the shortcode. Instead do this…- Activate the Names template under the All template type on the Connections : Templates admin page.
- Go to the Connections : Settings admin page.
- Click the Display tab.
- Enable the Single Entry template option.
- Go back to the Connections : Template admin page.
- Click the Individual template type (upper left).
- Active the Card Bio template.
- Do the same for the Organization template type.
Now the initial results list will use the Names template and when you click on the name it’ll take you to the profile page and display it using the Card Bio template.
re: The text formatting on the Names template is screwed up.
Without a link to the page with the display issue, the best I can say it sounds like a CSS conflict with the theme or another plugin.
re: However, after creating the new folders and -custom.css files, nothing changes in either template
Did you look at the page source to make sure the files are being loaded. The most common issue when they are not is the file paths are incorrect see Connections does not “see” them to load them.
re: I’d like to completely get rid of the “Last Updated x weeks ago” text. I tried putting … into Edit CSS and into card-bio-custom.css to no effect.
The like reason is the the Connections CSS is loaded after the CSS from the “Edit CSS” so it is getting overridden. Try this instead:
.cn-last-updated { display: none !important; }Add the
!importantflag will ensure that is can not (easily) be overridden.Hope that helps, please let me know.

Great to hear you figured out questions 1 and 3. Adding the address to the panel requires edit the
card.phpfile found here:../wp-content/plugins/connections-gridder/You would need to add this line of code where you want the address to display:
<?php $entry->getAddressBlock(); ?>Instead of overwriting the
card.phpfile I suggest following the advice in this QuickTip so the change will be update safe.Hope that helps, let me know.

You could, but only the client that you activate the support license keys on will receive support and updates. Most developers either have their client purchase a support license or purchase one on their behalf so they can receive support and updates.
Hope that answers your question.

On the site that looks bad… edit the page where you pasted the shortcode, switch the post editor to the Text tab and then remove any HTML tags in and around the shortcode, especially any
codeandpretags. Then save the page. That should fix it right up.Hope that helps!

There are two options. Disable pagination on the page where you have you directory. The other option, create a “Contact Sheet” page and add the following shortcode:
[connections template='list-view' enable_pagination='false']Hope that helps, let me know.

Sorry, no. The design is to show the directory by default and then filter the results by the user choices. Something custom would have to be developed to meet that requirement.
