You changed the values for the category and exclude_category options to category='5' exclude_category='4,7,9,8'… these values you changed them to effectively prevent any entries from actually being displayed. So, it is not as it was. Changing it back to what you said you had in the other post and it works because those settings do allow entries to be shown. I left it as category='5' exclude_category='4,7,9,8' because that is what you changed it to. I suggest double checking the categories ID/s to ensure you do not exclude everything from being displayed.

For each of those message at least one phone, email, social media and link was set as the entry’s Preferred but this Preferred one was set to a Visibility which a user does not have permission to view (such as Private and Unlisted).

As an example… edit this user’s entry as an admin. Scroll down to the Addresses section. I suspect there is more than one address. One of those addresses has the Preferred option enabled and its visibility to either Private or Unlisted (assuming that user’s role is not permitted to view Private and Unlisted info).

The user would see this error when they attempt to add or edit an address and set it to be the Preferred address.

It would be the same for the others too; phone, email and social media.

To change this you must edit the entry’s as an admin and change the Preferred of each to a Visibility setting that your users have permission. Alternatively, you could give the user’s role the the View Private capability on the Connections : Roles admin page. Though I would not recommend giving their role the View Unlisted capability.

That site, is listed under the custom section of the demo. They took the cMap template and made several changes changes to it. So the closest template available to this showcase site would be be the cMap template but to get some thing like that, you would have to make the same changes to the PHP files of the template.

As for wants 1 and 2, yes it is feasible but only if you know PHP can can make the changes to the templates to make it. I also do provide custom developed solutions so that might be an option too but that is a bit more expensive than buying one of the stock templates.

I am devoted to spending the remaining of the year at beefing up the documentation for the core Connections plugin. I added a doc page for the Connections : Tools admin page last week. This week I am working on the Connections : Settings admin page doc page.

As for creating a how to for a membership site, I had no plans on doing that because Connections is not a membership plugin. Generally users use the core WordPress registration to create a minimal membership site and then use the Visibility status of posts to define whether a user can see the post depending if they are logged in or not. Other users who require a more robust membership site use membership plugins like Restrict Content Pro. In essence the directory is only one part of their membership site.

Something to consider and hope it helps!

Yes, using Link this will allow you to allow your registered WP users to make edits to their entry in Connections.

As for requiring a login to view the director, you need to enable this option. This doc page I just started working on Monday and is not finished and not generally available. I hope to have it more complete and publicly released by the end of the day. It’ll cover all the settings found on the Connections : Settings admin page.

Connections does not use it own user credentials. This is something that I can confidently say will never change as the WordPress user authentication is robust and secure. Put simply, only checks for if the current user is logged in to WordPress

There are many ways to do this, but the simplest is to simply set the WordPress page to Private. That option is the Visibility setting above the Publish/Update button when you add/edit WordPress pages.

No. Template will have nothing to do with this. Templates for the most part, simply change the way the directory appears… mush like themes mostly simply change the appearance of WordPress pages/posts.

The shortcode was wrapped in a HTML <code> tag, removing this tag allowed the shortcode to work. Tip, when working with shortcode, any shortcode for any plugin, it is always best practice to do it in the Text tab of the WordPress editor.

It probably worked before the WP 4.4 update but one of the changes WP did in 4.4 was tighten up its shortcode parser to make it more secure which means some things that use to work will no longer to work.

You can download the update from your purchase history but before you can you must renew your support license. You can do this by clicking on the Renew link under the Licenses tab for cMap.

After you renew your support license you will be able to download the latest version of cMap. To update the old version on your site, simply deactivate and delete it and install the new version.

So your client can receive inadmin updates of cMap you should enter their support license key on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Licenses tab. After you activate the support license key on your client’s site, they will receive update notices and an option to apply updates right on their Plugins admin page like other plugins.

Looks like you updated to WordPress 4.4. You need to update to Connections 8.5.6 which is WP 4.4 compatible. WordPress changed the way they handle database inserts which required a few minor tweaks in order to resolve this error.
