Apologies! I overlooked your question. I see you switched to the Circle template now. Are you good to go?

I am not able to replicate this error, if you can give me a temp admin login I can investigate further. The login details can be posted here as a private reply.

    Ok, I see a couple issues…

The CSV file has broken character encoding. What app are you using to edit the CSV file? I recommend either Google Sheets or LibreOffice Calc.

What I am not really clear on is if you are trying to update existing entries or import into a new directory…

    • If you are trying to update. The Entry ID column is empty, those values need to exist.
    • If you trying to import into a new directory, delete all those empty columns from the CSV file.

Hope that helps, let me know.

Apologies for the delay! I was out of the office unexpectedly.

RE: does the program allow a user to create a profile without the administrator involved

Yes, but you will need the Link extension.

RE: with an e-mail verification link or some mechanism that confirms the database is not being spammed?

You would use a the builtin core WO user registration or use a plugin which enhances that core WP experience. There are many great free alternative so this is not builtin into Connections.

RE: is there be an approval process for new profiles created on the system?

Yes, additions and edits can be moderated, but, that would require an admin to be involved.

Hope I have answered your questions!

RE: A previous member registered as a new member, but she had a previous member directory entry. Can I connect her user profile to her previous member directory entry?

Sounds like when the user registered their email addresses did not match so they were not linked. On the Connections : Manage admin page, Copy the existing entry, change the email address to match the WP User account email and and then delete the source entry. The next time the user logs in, they will be linked to the new directory entry and will be able to maintain it.

    Hope that helps!

R: Did you all manage to add the claim your listing feature?

You can use the Link extension to accomplish this. Setup a page where a user can register to your site as a WP User. When they register and login if their WP user account email and Connections entry email match, they will be linked/”claimed” and that user will be able to edit their own entry. If they do not have an entry, they will be able to add one.

    Hope this helps!

    @ Steve

Apologies for the delay! I was out of the office unexpectedly.

There is a clash between your CPT “District” and the “District” permalink Connections uses. You can resolve this by changing the “District” permalink slug on the Connections : Settings admin page under the “Advanced” tab.

Hope this helps! Let me know.

Perhaps your directory was public when Google indexed your site. If that was the case, with the option enabled, and the next time Google indexes your site, those links will be removed. Try this, logout of your site, do a Google search, then click on one of those links, you should not see the entry.

Perhaps you did have the directory so I could view it, but now, I see the login require message. You could create a temp account for me to login with so I can view your directory and post it here as a private reply.

RE: I am still trying to build a login process that restricts non-members from viewing the member directory. The Login Widget appears to use the WordPress user registration. Is there a way to just use the Connections email address to accomplish the login?

Sorry, no. That is not a feature that will ever be added to Connections since WordPress already has a builtin and proven secure user authentication system. Or, if I am not understanding … WordPress already allows the user to login with their email address and password or username and password. Perhaps you are looking for a way to have a single password for all you members??? If that is the case, you could use another feature already built into WordPress, when editing the page you added the Connections shortcode on you can opt to password protect the page. Now, obviously not all that secure since one password is being shared. Additionally, if your plan is to allow your directory members to add and maintain their own entry, then, your users will need WordPress user account.

Hope I have answered this thoroughly and not confused you.

The directory home page was not set. There was a notice on the top of the admin pages… it was kind of lost among the few other admin notices so you might not have noticed it.

I set it to your expert directory page and now it works correctly.

    Hope that helps!
