Ok, I suspect a string in the translation is causing the PHP error. I’ll need to try and figure out which. To do so I will need a temp WP admin login and a FTP login. The details can be posted here as a private reply.

Sorry, no, this is not an available option.

Are you using Connections in a language other than English? If so which?

Great to hear this is sorted! It seemingly randomly starting working seems to indicate the web host was making server config changes. Perhaps that was causing other issue two and Connections issue was simply just one of the side effects of those changes. For now, I still think it was a mod_security rule.

I can not think of a single reason why this would happen. I guess the first place to start… If you are using any type of page caching, can you please disable it temporarily? I would like to determine if the menu changes in a consistent manner. Right now it always see to the the same menu items with the same categories.
I’ll also need a temp WP admin login and an FTP login. Details can be posted here as a private reply.

Really Say What? was the cause?!? Interesting. I do not even see how that would be possible. hey, it works. Sometimes it better not to question why :D

Is there perhaps some custom code developed for Connections on the site? I could see how an error such as this could occur if there was some “unofficial” custom code for Connections. So maybe deactivating all other plugins are try and and update will succeed.
Try turning on WordPress debugging and enable error logging. The fatal error should get logged and provide a clue as to what is going on.

Oh, ok, I understand now! The author box you are talking about is not the Authored extension for Connections which displays post the directory entry has authored on your blog.
If that is the case, it definitely make sense that the author box plugin is displaying the page author (you as the admin in this case, right).
It is important to note that the entry profile page will not the same as the author of the page itself. There is nothing you can change in Connections to have the entry display as the page author.
Probably the easiest solution would be to somehow exclude the author box plugin on the directory page.

What version are you upgrading from? The 8.12 version was a rather minor update containing no significant changes.
The only other question I can think of, which version of PHP are you running?
