RE: can you confirm if this is still the best way to export from my old website to my new one?
If you data in the directory falls within the export limitation I mentioned in my last reply. Yes, this would be the easiest. If the data does not fall within that export limitation. The best way to is to migrate the Connections database tables.
RE: is the beta still available?
The beta I was referring to has actually been released already. There is now a new beta in which you can opt into receiving. This new beta’s primary focus has been far more performant imports when importing 10’s of thousands of entries. Improved user feedback of the import process with downloadable CSV files of entries which either failed or were skipped during the import. It also better deals with a few of the most common issues have run into. You can opt into the beta from the Connections : Settings Betas admin page.
RE: when I go to the import section of the new site and click upload nothing happens
The Import tools found on the Connections : Tools admin page? What do you mean by “*nothing happens”? Could you give more details on what you see?
Also, I must point out… That tools specifically says that it is to bulk import categories. Roughly once a month someone confuses that tool as a method to import entries despite its name, description and the documentations focus on categories. Is there something I could add/change that would have made that more apparent to you so I can help avoid further confusion?

RE: I only want First Name & Last Name as options for user to submit. To get rid of the others, I have tried altering settings in: Field Configuration -> Name Fieldset -> Individual Name Fields, and unchecking Prefix, Middle Name, Suffux. However, this doesn’t change anything on my submit form.
That is correct. Looks Like I missed adding that to the documentation. I’ll correct that today. Presently the Name Fieldset configurations option will not affect Form as Form has a “custom” name fieldset. My hope is that I can simply update Form to respect those settings but I have not got there yet. I can try to get this done by the end of the month.
RE: Q2: If not, is this anything to do with previous customisation we did? And if so, can you do a paid custom fix?
I can not recall offhand what method I used to remove the “Department” field from Form. But, I suspect when I update Form to respect the Fieldset Configuration options. I’d have to login to your site and review my changes. I suspect it could be as simple as deactivating a code snippet which will allow the settings to be applied.
RE: I was hoping that by changing the default entry type to ‘individual’ would then mean that newly uploaded images would now be loaded into photo image field, and therefore would show as the thumbnail in admin page
Sorry, no, it does not work that way. The Logo field is still the logo field and the photo field is still the photo field regardless of the entry type.
RE: Again, is there a fix to this, or is it due to how we set up customisation?
Well, it is not broken so it can not be fixed. No, the customization would not have broken this. Actually since the beginning the admin manage only has displayed the photo, never the logo.
RE: Q4: Can I pay you to do make this work?
Adding the option of which image to display is on my todo list. My plan is to add it to the Screen Options tab found in the upper right corner on the Manage admin page. That would make the setting available, but per user (not global). Would that be satisfactory? It it would I can push out an update by end of next week with that option.

SSH would not work and I really would not want that level of access anyway.
I changed my dev site to Dutch but I am unable to replicate this.
I suspect that when you switch your site back to Dutch the admin will be fine. So please do that.
After you do, do some common management tasks such add an entry and edited entry. The same for a category. Change some settings in Connections and save the changes. Do any action in Connections that you recall doing recently.
I suspect that after one of those actions the issue will reappear. Let me know which action. That should help me identify the exact string causing this issue for you.
I would have done this but I did not want to lock you out of the admin unexpectedly. let me know what you learn.

You’ll need to talk to your web host. It sounds like they have not enabled a feature called mod_rewrite or it is not configured properly for WordPRess support. I am kind of surprised. It is pretty much a standard on any host I’ve worked with for many years now.

The second screenshot your attached reveals the issue.
Navigate to the WordPress : Permalinks admin page.
Remove
index.phpfrom your permalink structure.Doing so will make it compatible with Connections and also make your links more SEO friendly.
Hope that helps!

The page links are the same, were they meant to be different? Not sure what a login page would have to do the a 50x error.

Do you have the directory home page set on the Connections : Settings admin under the General tab?
Is the
[connections]on that page?Have you used any of the shortcode option which would limit the display of the list such as the category shortcode option?

The 50x series of errors are generally server related. Here’s a blog post on the 502 error:

You may have to contact you web host. They may be able to fix or at least point the exact cause of the error.
Hope this helps. Let me know what you learn.
