ParticipantIs there a way to set up a master business directory that can be shared by two (or more) different websites? For example, let’s say we have a list of 100 businesses. 20 of them have a special certification. Could we have the 20 special certified listings be displayed on a separate website or blog?
Perhaps there is something like a shortcode or feed that could be shared across sites?
The sites we are working on are separate entities, but we do have full access to both. In theory, setting up a multi-site could be a possibility, but they do have completely separate branding and content.

The only way to accomplish would be with a WPMS install. Before installing Connections on a WPMS install you would add
define( 'CN_MULTISITE_ENABLED', FALSE )to thewp-config.phpfile. Install and network activate Connections. Now all subsites will use the same directory database.Hope this helps!

ParticipantThat helps a lot. Thanks much for the quick reply. Do you happen to know if any of your Showcase examples are set up that way?

Sorry, I do not know if any sites in the showcase are setup that way. There would actually be no way for me to know by looking at the site either.
The settings change only changes where Connections looks for its datatables in a WPMS install (oversimplified).
By default, each subsite would have its own set of datatables. With that option set in the wp-config.php file, all subsites use the same set of datatables. Other than than Connections will function identically.
