RE: I am trying to list specific categories first
I looked at the page and it does appear you used the Custom Category Order to order the categories displayed in the drop down as they are not listed in alphabetical order.
RE: and the shortcode
Could you explain what you mean by this? You have both the Custom Entry Order and the Custom Category Order extensions. There is nothing that needs to be configured with the shortcode. So I am a little confused. A little more detail will help. Thanks!
RE: Any help or suggestions appreciated.
I’m not 100% certain what you are asking for, but, I think what you are looking to do is list the entries in the directory in a specific order. You would use the Custom Entry Order extension to accomplish this.
I think you are trying to do this using the Custom Category Order extension which will not work because it only orders the list of categories, it does not change the order of the entries. It’s not possible to display entries grouped by a category in a specific order.
Hope this helps, let me know.

RE: I am trying to get 2 specific categories to display first.
It is not possible to group the results by category. The Custom Category Order extension allows you to define the order of how the categories are listed. For example when displayed in the category drop down. It does not affect the order in which the entries themselves are displayed.
You can affect the order of the entries with the Custom Entry Order extension, here the link to the docs on how to set the entry order. This is field is found on the admin page when editing an entry.
My suggestion… edit each founder and give them an order of
1. Then edit each EO and give them an order of2. That will give you the result you are looking to achieve.Hope that helps!
ps. If you are using the order_by shortcode option, there is no need to use it in your case, please remove it.
