    Hello,

    I am using a search plugin (Search and Filter Pro) and a Bookmarks Plugin (WP User Bookmarks) to add functionality to my site. I would like to have profiles in my directory show up in the general search (rather than just the search from the directory page) and to allow users to bookmark directory profiles in their bookmarks library.

    However, both plugins don’t seem to be registering the Directory profiles as a custom post type, and as a result, I can’t accomplish the above.

    Do you have any thoughts on how to solve this issue?

    This is actually not an issue. Connections does not use a custom post type (CPT) for performance and scalability reasons. The database schema is designed to be optimized for directory info. CPT use the same tables as WP uses for posts/pages and are optimized for that type of content. This allows me to do things with Connections which would be very difficult and inefficient to do with CPT’s.

    Hope my answer explains it well and is not confusing.

    So if we are wanting to reference the directory profiles in a systematic way, how do we do that? Or is that not possible?

    I’m sorry, but I do not know what you are asking? Could you give a bit more context/details.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for following up. I am wondering if you have another idea of how to make the profiles come up in search, if they are not a custom content type.

    Let me know. I am putting together a resources site and want the people to be “mixed in” as resources when people search for resources like Videos, podcasts, pdfs as well.

    Sorry, but here is not a way to commingle core WP post search results with the directory search results.

    You could probably create a custom theme search page which passes the core WP search terms to Connections and display those results before or after the core WP search results.
