GuestI am in the process of developing a WP site for a local business association and have just started looking at Connections. We need to create several custom fields. I have successfully done so using your Quick Tips from June 2015.
However, on the admin screen for an entry, I see a section at the bottom of the screen that says “Add New Custom Field:” with a drop down menu to select custom fields. I cannot figure out how to add the custom fields to that drop down menu.
Is that a newer method of creating custom fields?
If so, how do you populate that menu? Thanks

Apologies for the confusion! It stems from core WordPress terminology. The “custom field” you added is different from the “Custom Fields” metabox (with the drop down). I’ll try to explain…
Take a look at your add WordPress Page/Post, you will also find the “Custom Fields” metabox… and, very likely, you’ll have custom fields added by the theme and other plugins. The custom field you added following the tutorial adds new custom fields like the theme and plugins added fields to the add page/post.
So…
The custom field you added following the tutorial will display as its own metabox as its own input just as they do when the theme or plugin adds a custom field to the WordPress page/post page. It will not display in the drop down.
I hope this makes sense! Please let me know.
ps. If the field does not show as a new metabox, then there must be an error in the code to add the custom field.
