GuestSince modifying the widget code to show today’s birthdays on the “upcoming birthdays” widget, Internet Explorer v11 still shows yesterday’s birthdays, but Chrome does not. I’ve confirmed on the admin dashboard that the old birthday isn’t listed under “today’s birthdays”. I’ve cleared my IE cache and disabled all caching plugins on the server. Chrome is working as it should, but for some reason IE still shows the old birthday.
Any ideas?

GuestThe birthday from yesterday eventually dropped off in Internet Explorer about 12 hours after the day began. As long as it’s (eventually) working, we’re ok, but I’d still like to eventually figure this out. Low priority, tough…
Thanks!

Sounds like a page cache issue. Suspect you are logged on to the site in Chrome so you are not seeing the cached page and you are not logged into the site with IE so you are seeing the public cached paged. FYI, disabling the caching plugin, does not empty their cache. Especially if we’re talking about W3TC or WP Super Cache. You must delete the cache before disabling them or the cached page will still be served. And since the plugin is deactivated, will never be refreshed. Seeing as it did refresh I suspect the caching plugin purged it page cache and refreshed it. As it should. I think I would recommend a shorter page cache time because if it is 12 or 24 hours then I can easily see the widget info not updating for a couple days depending on when the page cache is created. This would not be the fault of the widget because it has no control over when page caches are refreshed.
Hope this helps!
fyi, There is no code in Connections that will cause it to do something in one browser vs another. It is always something else. Usually page caching or being logged in vs not being logged in.
