GuestHi Steven,
I’m trying to export from an old site using Connections and import to a new site using connections. The export worked fine from old site but when I try to import via your Import tool on the new site nothing happens. Using your free version of the plugin within the new site, I go to tools > import tab > select CSV file that I exported, then click import but nothing happens besides the button graying out and then activating again. I refresh and try again but to no avail. Am I missing something?
Thx,

GuestFYI few additional pieces of information:
– first i tried exporting and then importing ALL directory data.
– when this didn’t work, i tried exporting and then importing just the category data.
Both had the same result describe above.Thx,

Is should like you are using the All export tool, is that correct?
But then it sounds like you are trying to import the result of that tool using the Category import tool.
If that is the case, this will not work (well, you could import just the categories). You need the CSV Import extension. Here’ the docs outlining the requirements and tips when importing a CSV file using the CSV Import extension. The file exported using the Export CSV All tool meets the already meets requirements. So there is not much to worry about there. Just make sure you read [this FAQ] if you are importing to a new site.
If you are migrating an entire site, the proper way to migrate is to use a plugin like BackupBuddy or DUplicator. They take the pain out of migrating entire sites.
Hope this answers your question.

GuestHi Steven,
Thanks for the response. Yes, I used the all export tool. So to clarify, I need to purchase the Import extension in order to import the directory items exported from my old site?
Thanks,
Brad

re: to clarify, I need to purchase the Import extension in order to import the directory items exported from my old site?
That is correct. The import tool you were trying to use only supports importing categories. One thing to note, images (photo or logo) will not be transferred.

ParticipantRoger that. I purchased your extension Pro pack. Looking forward to trying out all the additional functionality. QQ – do i need to upload the categories first before doing a full import of all entries or does your code detect the missing categories and create automatically?
Thx,

No, you do not need to import categories separately as they will be created automatically.
Hope that helps!
