ParticipantCan I change the headings such as Work Phone for example, to something custom like “Secretary Cell Phone” on the face (outside) of every profile? In other words, can I customize the labels that I would like to name different headings, Globally?

See this doc page on how to change field names and other text in Connections.
Templates do have template specific text string which are dealt with differently, please see this doc page on how to change template specific strings in cMap as one example.
The rest of the template use shortcode option to control template specific string. See the doc page on how to change template specific strings in Gridder as an example.
Hope this answers your question thoroughly!

ParticipantThanks!
I am doing a neighborhood directory and would like to import a CVS file with two names, two phone number and two emails for each profile. What would the best route be?
Would I be able to import about 1,000 of these resident profiles in any particular way and then change the strings, as defined in your previous reply, or is there another better way?
Also, this may be a silly question, but is there a limit on the number of resident profiles that I could upload at one time?

re: I am doing a neighborhood directory and would like to import a CVS file with two names, two phone number and two emails for each profile. What would the best route be?
Well, each entry only supports having a single name but you can import an entry with two numbers and email addresses. To learn how to setup the CSV file, add one entry with the two numbers and email addresses and export it.

You can do it either order. I recommend setting up the directory to you liking first, then import.

In theory, no limit. Practically speaking, that really depends on the web host. I’ve tested importing up to 20,000 on inexpensive shared hosts like Bluehost and 30,000 to 60,000 on a higher end web host. For example a SiteGround Cloud Server instance.
Hope that helps!
