No, buying a template will not resolve this error. This seems to be an issue with the database. Are you able to see and view all the existing entries?

They purchased and the customized the cMap template. They customized both the layout and style of the template to suit their needs. They made quite a few changes. The links above the directory, those are simply manually placed on the page above the [connections] shortcode with the URL set to perform a category filter. Basically they used the category to filter the directory and then copy/pasted the URL from the browser address bar and added a link to the page. So, there is nothing really fancy going on there.

re: Would I need to contact them to see how they customized it? I work for a college too and this would be so helpful to our departments.

I just logged in and I was able to add a test category without receiving an error. I was also able to add a test entry.

Oh… I see the issue now. It worked on the Network admin, not the physics subsite. This is because you do not network activate Connections, you activate it on the subsite you wish to use it on.

I network deactivated and activated it on the subsite. I was then able to add categories with no errors.
