ParticipantHello. I have connections, links, form and login plugins all installed. New people register for the site, then create their directory entry. This works. But they are unable to edit their own entry.
Also, upon log in, they are presented a link for their wp profile, and a link for their directory entry. I don’t want them to get confused about their wp profile or be able to post to wp. I just want them to be able to create and edit their directory entries. Currently, new wp registrants are defaulted to “participant” to keep them out of the wp profile page. But… they are not able to edit their own entries. I’ve tried messing with the wp role, incrementing the permissions all the way up to subscriber, but this still does not let a person edit their own connections directory entry.

I am willing to give you temporary admin credentials to poke around and troubleshoot.10/03/2016 at 1:00 pm #394068Steven Zahm

My first suggestion, please ensure the configuration for Link is done exactly as outlined in the configuration instructions. Make sure you new users are set to be subscribers after they register. The actual user role when the user registers doesn’t really matter but it simplifies the configuration.
Also, take note of the tip about Form in the configuration instructions, that can be very important.

Obviously I am not able to see this… but if you are using the Connections Login widget to display these links, go to the widget configuration and disable the “Display the user profile link?” option. If the user profile link is being displayed by something else other than the Connections Login widget, you’ll have to turn it off in the plugin or theme displaying the link provided there is such an option.
Hope that helps, let me know.

ParticipantI have link activated. I have directory entries already made. I have a setting that allows users with the company email automatically register and those people can see the add my database entry link, but they are not connecting to their own already established (by me) record. How do I make the connection between the people who are logged into wp and the database record that I’ve created for them?

re: I have a setting that allows users with the company email automatically register
What setting is this exactly? It could be possible the auto registration is the reason for the link not to be made. If this “setting” does not populate the correct user’s email address, there will not be a way to link the user account to the existing Connections entry.
