ParticipantHi Steven,
I would like to group specific areas in cities, for example in London say “Soho”.
Is there anyway to make the “address line 3” in the “edit entry” an active link under the settings area?
Thanks

Sorry, not, there is not.
It’s been requested that a “District” field be added to the plugin. If I add this field, perhaps it could be used to accomplish your needs?

ParticipantHi Steven,
If a “District” field could be added that would be perfect and would be a great feature! Is this something you might consider in the next update perhaps?
Thanks

As I mentioned, another user is requesting a district field which I definitrely think is the way to move forward.
Making this change will require quite a bit of changes, especially when factoring in permalink support that you need…
I am going to set aside time to do this soon and I will need some help with testing so if you and schulz (the other user) that would shorten dev time … it’s the testing that takes most of the time.
While I am at it making this change, I will also be adding an
Address Line 4field as well as aCountyline field; both of which I have receive multiple requests for. TheAddress Line 4will not have permalink support like the other address line fields but bothDistrictandCountywill. The
Address Line 4field will be placed after line three, makes sense, right :)Both
DistrictandCountywill be placed on a new row above theCountryfield. That seems to make the most sense to me.Does all this sound good?

ParticipantHi Steven,
Sure I don’t mind testing on my site! Just let me know what you need.
I understand what you mean by adding the 4th line, makes sense but like you said, it won’t be linked!
Just a question though, is there a reason why the “district” field would be placed above the country field between the city field?
Again taking London as an example in my own directory, we have a placed the district in between the “address line” and the “city” fields. Actually this is how most I think are written in the UK.
You can see in the example here on our website http://bit.ly/1sMY3K0 where “Mayfair” is the area or district bewteen “Address line 3” and “city”
Cheers

re: I understand what you mean by adding the 4th line, makes sense but like you said, it won’t be linked!
Right, just like address lines 1–3 are not linked (permalinks). I’m only adding because it has been requested and if I’m going to make changes, now’s the time to do it. It does not really make any sense to have street address post box office type info as permalinks.
re: Just a question though, is there a reason why the “district” field would be placed above the country field between the city field?
I’m placing the district field above the country field on its own line because any fields I add to the add/edit form also affect the Form extension. So, adding fields have to deon in a way that will not break the CSS of the Form extension. Shimming a new field between extension fields will break the display and require an update to Form. I can not do anything that can break existing installations. So this is a good compromise.
As for displaying the actual field, you will have control over this. See this doc page for cMap on address formatting.. There’ll be token added for the fields so you’ll be able to place the district field in between the street address lines and the “region” line (city, state, zip) just like you need.
Hmmm… now that I said all this, perhaps the default placement should be above the “region” fields.

ParticipantHey Steven,
I actually didn’t know you could re-arrange the fields in the address section using the shortcodes, handy to know that. Anyway that will work for us.
Let me know how I can help with adding the district field!

Sure thing! I expect to have the fields added sometime this week yet.

Are you ready to give this a test? I’m emailing a copy to you. To install, deactivate and delete the installed version and then install and activate the version I sent via email.
Everything should “just work” but the changes are numerous throughout the code so a bug could exist.
