GuestI have been looking at your plugin to create a membership directory for our church. The ability to import the information would be most useful so the csv extension looks like it might be what we need. A couple of clarifying questions however about the operation.
Our paper directory is organized by families, so there would be a family picture and then information for each family member, including name, birthday, cell phone, home address, etc. I tested your plugin and as best as I can tell I need to create an individual entry for each family member, then add them to the family. But it doesn’t look like the family entry inherits from the members. So for example. If all the members of the family would live in the same house I would define the address on the family entry. Each individual member has a unique cell phone and birthday so I would define those attributes there. When I look at the family entry I don’t see the individual data on the entry. I have to click a link to go to the individual person’s entry and then the information entered at the family level does not show such as home address.
I watched your video on csv import and I didn’t see where family relations were defined. So am I correct in believing that I would import individual family member entries with the csv import tool then have to manually go in and create the family relations?
Thank you for your assistance.

Correct.

Correct. They are “loosely” related, for a lack of a better term. My suggestion is to first create the family entry with all the common details and then copy that family entry to make the individual family members which can be added to the original family entry.

Yes, that is correct. This is a feature which does not get a whole lot of use so there has not been as much time invested in it to make the workflow smoother. If it starts to gain more traction, then I will definitely improve it further.
