ParticipantHello,
I have “Tile”, “Form” and “Link”
I want users to be able to edit their existing directory entries from the front end.
I purchased Link to link the existing directory entries to WP users (via email address).
I have a page called Edit My Directory Entry with the shortcode:
[connections_edit_link]
However when an existing user loads the front-end page with the shortcode, the page is blank. The user is able to edit their directory entry if they go to the WP admin dashboard.

Contrary to many tutorials on the web, adding custom code to the theme’s functions.php file is not a good solution because if you change themes or the theme has an update, the custom code is lost. Which is why I always recommend the Code Snippets plugin.
I installed the Code Snippets plugin and added the code there. I had to use a different shortcode and function name. After I did that, the link showed up like it should.
So, that said, for some reason it is not working from the theme’s function.php file. I looked at the code and it seems right. I’ll leave it to your to delete the code from the functions.php file. I didn’t want to remove it without permission.
As a suggestion, I would move the link to the account page, since it is only a link.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Steven,
I’m sorry but this is broken again.
this page with the shortcode [connections_edit_link] does not produce a form:
http://jungian-analyst.london/edit-directory-entry/
Is this a result of the recent upgrade? How do I fix it? The login details I gave you should still work.
thanks,

In the Code Snippet you changed the shortcode name from
[connections_edit_link]to[connections_edit_link_snippet]. When you rename a shortcode, you also need to update the shortcode on the page. I edit the page so the shortcode is[connections_edit_link_snippet]. I suggest not changing the shortcode name in the snippet.02/26/2016 at 10:04 am #366956Stephen Garratt
