ParticipantEssentially what I’m looking to do is get two separate categories to have their own pages and forms. Getting each page to show up correctly is no problem with the shortcodes, but I can’t seem to figure out how to get a different form for each category.

Sorry, but there is really no way to do this short of editing the core PHP files for Form.

ParticipantI’m not sure if this makes a difference, but I don’t really need a whole different form. I just need each page to only show the sub-categories for each main category in the drop down menu. This would also require a separate URL for each.

Sorry, but that would still require making changes to the PHP files for Form. I took a look at my code and I was able to make the necessary changes easier than I thought. Using the shortcode you would define the category parent to show like this:
[connections_form parent_category='n']n would be the parent category ID of the children that should be displayed as options. Does that should like it would work for you?

ParticipantSetting a value for parent_category doesn’t seem to do anything for me. Does this require some work in the PHP to get it to function properly? It sounds like this is the functionality I’m looking for though.
Either way, I wanted to say that I took over on a project that was previously using a different plugin. I replaced it with Connections and Connections has proven to be significantly better in every aspect. Also, I very much appreciate how active you are in the forums, and how quickly you responded.
Thanks!

re: Setting a value for parent_category doesn’t seem to do anything for me.
Right, it wouldn’t. Sorry I was not more clear… I added this option yesterday in response to your question.
re: It sounds like this is the functionality I’m looking for though.
I can email you a copy of Form which has this new option if you would like to test it out. Let me know.

ParticipantIf you could send it that would be great! Thanks.

I sent the email with the beta attached. Let me know if you do not receive it. I’m also interested in any feedback you may have on it. Thanks!

ParticipantI got the beta and installed it with no problems. The feature works exactly as I expected it would, thanks! The only feedback I have is, you should work to add this feature to your next release, it’s very handy.
Maybe a bit more complex, but having more options on what to display or not could improve this even more. Also you could add a feature allowing users to choose to not allow parent categories to be selected, and a shortcode to remove the “Show all categories” option.
Thanks again for taking the time to add this feature for me. I’m very pleased with the plugin, and the support you offer for it is unparalleled.

re: you should work to add this feature to your next release
Yes, this will be included in the next release.
re: Also you could add a feature allowing users to choose to not allow parent categories to be selected, and a shortcode to remove the “Show all categories” option.
Hmmm, the “Show all categories” shouldn’t even be an option. I just fixed that bug. The fix will be in the next update.
re: having more options on what to display or not could improve this even more.
I did other shortcode options for categories which are in the beta I gave you. You also have these options;
exclude_category,include_category,hide_empty_category,show_category_count.You would not use
exclude_categoryandinclude_categorytogether, one or the other. Theinclude_categoryoption would be use to show only the specified categories. Theexclude_categoryoption should allow to exclude specific categories.Does this qualify?
re: you could add a feature allowing users to choose to not allow parent categories to be selected
I just now added this per your suggestion. Thanks!
