ParticipantHey,
On selected main pages like our Page One and Posts pages, I have a widget on the sidebar which includes multiple Connections listings and link to their direct company page – e.g. URL/go-local/company/railside-brewing/
Upon clicking, I am taken to that direct listing – all good. However, if I then click the plugin set ‘Go back to directory’ link, it actually returns me to the previous post or page, NOT to the actual directory. (even though when I hover over the ‘Go back to directory’ link, it shows the correct Directory page (as set in Settings) in the infobar at the bottom of the screen).
Did I set something up wrong?
I could easily just deactivate that return setting and place a manual link back to the directory on those listings, but I thought I’d at least check into it first.
Thanks.

The back link simply hooks into the browser back button. I can not think of a better way to handle this because how Connections can be split to be many directories on many pages so back becomes very relative. I’m very open to suggestions on this :)

ParticipantNo worries. I get the challenges. I will remove that option and create a manual link back to the (relative) main Directory page. I know I have done this before, I just need to remember how I did it.
I doubt I modified the template itself, I probably dropped something with a link in a pre-content widget area specifically on those pages. I’ll try both and see what works unless you have a better (read: easy) :) idea to try.
Thanks!

If your theme has a button shortcode you can add the button shortcode above the Connections shortcode with a link to the page. I’ve seen a few users do that to their satisfaction.

ParticipantI do have a custom button/link back on the category – /go-local/category/banks-credit-unions/ page, but on the individual company – /go-local/company/riverview-community-bank/ page. I see no way to add something to the top of the ‘page’ when really isn’t it more like an endpoint.
I am trying to add the new link to a widget area just above those individual company listings, but having trouble keeping that link off of the category page too.
The ability to define the link destination in that area would be nice. :)
Not that big a deal, I can always just add it in the widget area and have it show on both places. If I could figure out a way to ‘display: none’ it on just the category related page, I would?
Thanks.

It might be able to craft a clever CSS statement to hide it on category pages. Share a link to a page and I’ll take a quick look.
