ParticipantSince the last update I cannot edit add new posts or pages to my site and the media library won’t open when editing old content. When I deactivate the Connections plugin all goes back to normal. I have tried deactivating the other plugins while Connections is active and there doesn’t appear to be a conflict. I have tried switching themes to no avail. The site is http://livetheup.com and the connections plugin is currently active. My host cannot find any errors on their end. Where shall we begin?

First… You might want to check your cache. You home page is being loaded without the theme’s CSS and other assets. I suggest switching to WP Rocket from W3 Total Cache. I’m not affiliated with them in any way, simple a satisfied user who got tired of having to tweaking W3TC constantly.
re: Since the last update I cannot edit add new posts or pages to my site and the media library won’t open when editing old content.
Well, this is very odd because Connections has no code what’s so ever touching the Media Library or admin Posts and admin Pages for that matter. I did quickly test my main site and dev site both which have 90+ plugins installed and the Media Library is uneffected.
Browsing around the site… it seems very slow. Often pages are shown with no styling. I wonder if you are running up against the web host’s resources allocated to your site.
I see you seem to be running on Bluehost. What package is your site running on? The Starter shared hosting? You might need to bump you plan up to a higher package. Maybe one of the WordPress plans.
One suggestion, try increasing memory allocated to PHP. Here’s an article that cover how:
http://ideaboxthemes.com/increase-php-memory-limit-wordpress/
The php.ini method should work on Bluehost. I recommend at least 128M.
Oh, one other method, I know Bluehost allows you to choose which PHP version is run in the Control Panel, make sure you have it set to 5.5 or 5.6. They perform faster and use less memory.
Hope that helps, let me know.

ParticipantSO here’s where we stand. I have contacted Bluehost and upgraded my hosting to their WordPress Optimized package. Increased the PHP memory as suggested. I am using W3 Total Cache, but will upgrade to WP Rocket in the near future.
The result so far is that I the media files now load and I can save my posts/pages. The site admin is extremely fast. That said, with connections-pro activated the site loads four times slower than without. For the life of me I cannot figure out why and bluehost is of no help.
Any ideas?

Well, looking at the page load requests and the times for each request there is one request that takes 16+ seconds to respond:
http://livetheup.com/?headway-trigger=compiler&file=general&layout-in-use=index&rand=1399919414
There is another one that takes 1+ seconds to respond:
http://livetheup.com/?headway-trigger=compiler&file=layout-index&layout-in-use=index&rand=1723172460
These two request seem to account for 18+ seconds of the page load time of the site.
My best guess these requests are being created by the theme. I do not see how Connections would have an impact on these requests. Looking at the Connections related requests, they are in line with all the other requests on the pages. These requests from the theme seems to be the CSS. I’m not sure why the theme would do this because loading the CSS this way makes W3TC almost of no use since it appears these are being created on each page request (very bad for performance). It is possible the theme is simply pulling these from from the db and not creating them on page load. Even still, that is not the quickest way to load the CSS files.
Like I said, not sure Connections could have an impact on these two requests, but if you can give me a temp admin account and an FTP login, I’ll take a look to make sure there is not some edge case bug causing bad page load times for you.

The FTP login needs to have access to the
wp-contentfolder. This login does not seem to have that. Could you fix that?09/16/2015 at 4:52 pm #347008Richard Beasley

By default when you create a new FTP user/account it will limit the user to their “own” folder. You need to change the folder path so I can have access to your WP files.
