ParticipantHi I want to change some of the title options in the cMap template. For instance I want to change Work Phone to Phone and Cell Phone to Mobile. I download the Say What add-on and tried changing them in there but it didn’t work. I then tried tried using the str_***** shortcode option, adding it to the Page I created in WordPress to contain the directory and it doesn’t work there either. Firstly is it possible to change the titles in cMap? And if so, what am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can use either the str_***** shortcode options or the Say What? plugin. Both options work great. Which should you depends on the scope of the change you want to make.
Use the Say What? plugin to change the text throughout all of Connections. Use the str_***** shortcode options to change them only in that specific instance of the shortcode.
This give you pretty good amount of flexibility because you can use Say What? to globally change the label and then still use the str_***** shortcode option to override the override label in that one shortcode instance. Pretty neat!
To use Say What, make sure you’re using the exact label otherwise it will not work. For Work Phone the original text you should enter in Say What? should be exactly
Work Phoneand Cell Phone the exact text would beCell Phone. When you enter the text domain, it must beconnections, notConnections. Capitalization is extremely important.The most common reason the shortcode option do not work is because they were copy/pasted from the web page in to the WordPress Visual editor. When this is done, the HTML is also pasted which breaks WordPress’s ability to properly parse the options.
To fix this, edit the page, switch the post editor to the
Texttab and remove any HTML tags from within and around the shortcode and it options.Hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Steve,
Thanks for the advice. I’ve managed to change Cell Phone to Mobile no but unfortunately your advice for changing Show Bio to Business Info doesn’t work – either using Say What or the shortcode str option. Business Info shows up in the admin but the live page on the website still shows Show Info (obviously not even the same as the original label Biographical Info in the admin area).
I stripped out all the html in the biographical text, updated and it still doesn’t work.
Using the shortcode on the page I created for the directory just wrecks the background colour change I was able to implement.
Any ideas what the problem is, please?10/27/2014 at 8:59 am #308160Steven Zahm

If you’re trying to change the “show Bio” … then my instructions change a bit because that depends on the version you’re using.
Versions >= 4.1:
Use Say What? but since this is a template specific string you need to use the text domaincnt_cmapinstead ofconnections.Versions <= 4.0:
You need to use the shortcode options. Here’s an example shortcode:
[connections str_bio_show='Business Info' str_bio_hide='Close Business Info' str_bio_head='Business Info']re: I stripped out all the html in the biographical text, updated and it still doesn’t work.
HTML in the bio field is fine … you need to remove the HTML tags within and around the[connections]shortcode. If changing the shortcode options causes other issues with the shortcode, there is definitely HTML tags within it mucking things up for you. Remember, when working with shortcodes, no matter the plugin, always use theTextpost editor and not theVisualpost editor.Hope that helps!
