ParticipantI am running a multi-site WordPress install with Connections. A possible scenario just came to mind and I wanted to ask you how the Connection software would respond.
Let’s say user A is a writer and an author and wants to sign up on today’s visions to be listed in the directory. Could she be listed under two different venues – Hot Reads and the Galleries?
Thanks

KeymasterAre the venues Hot Reads and Galleries different categories within Connections or are they two different network site? I can not really tell, but I’m guessing two different network sites. If that is the case, it depends on how Connections is setup. By default on a multi site install of WP, Connections will run in multi site mode, meaning each instance where Connections is activated on a network site is isolated from each other (does not share data). However, Connections can be configured to run in single site mode on a multisite install of WP. This mean in each instance where Connections is activated on a network site it will share the same data across all network sites. Is the latter what you want?

ParticipantYes and no. I would like it to be shared but only have each category available in it’s venue. Authors in Hot Reads, Artists in The Galleries, etc … It is in single site – each site has it’s own install.
The question is – if I have to reset it up in network – will I have to re-enter all my data :-(

KeymasterIf I understand yes, you can have shared data and then just use the category shortcode option to limit the results to a specific category.
Is the site a single site now? I think if you add
define( 'CN_MULTISITE_ENABLED', FALSE );(in the wp-config.php file) at the same time you convert to multi site … everything should just work. Honestly though, I’ve never tried it.If you already have multi site setup, you still need to add
define( 'CN_MULTISITE_ENABLED', FALSE );to thewp-config.phpfile.Will you lose or have to re-add your data, no … but, you may have to move the
connections-imagesfolder to the correct location and use phpMyAdmin to renamed tables so they are associated with the super network tables and not any of the network sites tables.Hope that helps!
