ParticipantI installed Connections two updates ago on WP 3.6 multi-site and it worked beautifully. Then I upgraded Connection to 0.7.9.0 and WP to 3.6.1 and I got ugly error message displaying on site.
Then you released 0.7.9.1 and the error message went away.
I’m not aware that anything else has changed but now the error message has returned (see below).
I’ve disabled the plugin for the moment. I’m hoping the error message make give you some idea of how to diagnose the problem.
I’m really keen to get Connections back up and running as quickly as possible as it’s a really fab plugin and is helping us to build a great community of independent businesses.

I think this is a PHP server config issue. The important part of the message is;
open_basedir restriction in effect. Some searching lead me to these two pages:
http://stackoverflow.com/a/14651338
The thing that gets me why the messages started and stopped for you. These paths haven’t changed between versions. So, perhaps there is a security related plugin you have installed???
I hope this helps. Let me know.

GuestHi. I am getting same error message in the templates section under the Connections menu. From time to time it also appears sitewide but then goes away when I reload.
Here are the error messages in full:
Warning: is_dir() [function.is-dir]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/nfs/c04/h04/mnt/166193/domains/dev2.table26.com/html/wp-content/connections_templates/.htaccess/) is not within the allowed path(s): (/nfs:/tmp:/usr/local:/etc/apache2/gs-bin) in /nfs/c04/h04/mnt/166193/domains/dev2.table26.com/html/wp-content/plugins/connections/includes/template/class.template-api.php on line 310

Here is what my hosting provider says about it: https://kb.mediatemple.net/questions/514/How+do+I+set+the+path+for+open_basedir%3F#gs
Any suggestions on the best way to proceed?
Thanks.

Keymaster@ Ted
You’re going have to do what the link for your host says or delete the
.htaccessandindex.phpfiles from withing theconnections_templatesfolder.The
index.phpfile only contains the following:<?php // Silence is golden.The
.htaccessfile only contains the following:Options -IndexesBoth of these are added to the folder for the expressed purpose of make the folder not directly accessible to random site visitors for security reasons. So removing them, could provide access to those files within this folder (if there are any at all).
Hope that helps.
