Link + Families

Hello Steven,

I’ve just started working with Connections and Link at my website. I am using the families feature as well and I have encountered problems! Please let me explain what I’m hoping to achieve.

(I’ve also read through this thread on families, so you don’t need to start from scratch.)

I have a husband and wife, John and Jane. They share an address but have different cell phones and emails. So I have two options.

1. Set up John and Jane as individuals, then set up the Doe, John and Jane family. Trouble is here, if I store the address under the family, then neither John or Jane can update the family address using Link.
2. Set up Jane as an individual and John as the family, then add Jane as John’s wife. I’d store all John’s details under the family, as well as the address. Trouble is here, when John tries to update his details using Link, it treats him like an individual and all the fields are blank. (Note, if this method worked, I’d probably use it even though there’s no way of explicitly designating John as the husband.)

So, my question is, can an individual update family details using Link? If not, do I have to store the shared address under both individuals then have them each update the address individually?

I am very excited about the possibilities that Connections + Link opens up for my website and I am hoping that I can get it set up nicely.
