ParticipantI have a few hundred entries in my database for professionals I have trained around the world. I need to be able to offer a simple location search. For those in the US by State and for those elsewhere at least by Country.
Most of the people fall into 1 category and as of now there are only 3 total so for me the category search is not as important as general location. I purchased cmap and all of the pro add ons so maybe I’m just not understanding how to get this functionality to work. Can you point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help.

There’s no inbuilt functionality to do this. A couple options is to limit the search field so it search only the Country/State fields. Another option you could create links that auto-magically filter by category Here are a few examples:
my-site.com/directory/country/US
my-site.com/directory/country/Germany
my-site.com/directory/country/FranceThe directory part of the URL would be the page of your directory.
The Country name will have to be exactly as it is in your entries.Hope that helps.

ParticipantThanks for your quick response. Since location is the primary way someone would be looking for these people do you see any problem in me using the categories for country and state/province?
I could just set up all of the countries and then for the US and Canada where I have trained by far the most people adding state/province sub-category to allow narrowing to this level?

I’ve seen many other users do the exact same thing, so I don’t see any issue with it.
