Then all you need are the card-single.php and card.php template override files.

You would check to see what category the current entry is in and then change the layout as you need.

Something to consider as an alternative. All entries are CSS classed with their category slugs, so, you could use CSS to change the appearance that way too.

Should work fine with that plugin. I am not aware of any compatibility issues. You will very likely want at least the Link extension and maybe the Form extension if you want frontend editing for your members.

Sure, a programmer/developer can make Connections search any way you want it to. How much time and effort it takes really depends on how you want to change Connections.

This really depends on the them. The directly will only be as wide as what the theme allows for the page content.

As for displaying info… that is where templates come in. Different templates will show the info in different ways. Take, for example how Gridder displays the directory info is very, very different on how the free template displays the info. The Connections template engine is quite flexible so a programmer/developer can really make the directory display any way you want.

The Widget Pack has a category widget that lists the categories.

Alternatively, the templates support filtering by category. They do not list out the categories like the example page you linked to but it does allow the user to pick from categories to filter the results.

I just added Link, Social Media and Instant Messaging visibility to the export so it will be included in the next update. So this should be all fields that support the option to set the visibility.

This is already included in the export. Look for the “Visibility” column. That column reflects the visibility status for the entire entry record.

The “View All” permalink is an entry list action. The only available action in the core Connections plugin is the “View All”. If you have the Form extension installed there will be an additional action that can be enabled. The Link extension will also add an action.

Yes, this will be included on Gridder too. For Slim Plus, Tile Plus, Circled and Gridder the category info will be on the profile entry page presented just like it is on the on the Default Entry Card template that comes with Connections. Additionally, like cMap, which already has this feature, you will be able to change the “Categories” label.
