What is the exact shortcode you are using to embed the directory on the page?
Are you using any sort of page caching, either a plugin or server side?

re: do I need to check the box for the parent category or just the appropriate child categories?
You can select just the child category, no need to check the parent. Without delving into the gory details… when selecting a child category, you are in effect also selecting the parent because the child is within the parent. Hope that makes sense.
re: we will be wanting to use the Form extension that allows folks to add themselves to the listing – moderated though!
Link is the addon which allows allows you to do that. Form adds the frontend editing capability.
Hope that helps!

Oh, I see now… I did not scroll down. The Default Card template does use small caps. I can see how this would cause issues. Removing the second instance would be easiest solution.

Interesting the license key appears to have been originally purchased on 07/21/2015 by Jennifer Stru**** (last name partially redacted for privacy).
Then on 06/27/2016 you renewed that license key.
Perhaps you know Jennifer (you both happen to live in MN, somewhat nearby to each other)?
Perhaps you sharing a license?

When you edit an entry in the admin, does the imported zip code show?

re: I’m so sorry but I still can’t get the categories to upload. It doesn’t even map the files. When I press upload it doesn’t do anything. I formatted the CSV to comma and double quote is that correct?
If you press the button and nothing happens, that seems to indicate that another plugin or theme is causing a fatal javascript error on the page which stops all javascript from after the error from running. This is just my best guess. If you give me a temp WP admin login, I’ll take a look. The login details can be posted here as a private reply.
Please attach a copy of the CSV file you are trying to upload. Please rename it from
.csvto.txtfirst. Otherwise it will be rejected as an unsafe file type by the forum.re: I still haven’t been able to get the maps to work.
Open the directory page in Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab. Look for the message from Google. These can help you figure out what to do.
Before the message was
Google Maps API warning: InvalidKey.Now it says
Google Maps API error: RefererNotAllowedMapErrorThis tells me that you have the key setup correctly but the referer restriction for the browser API key is not correct.
See this step in the instructions for what I suggest using as the referer restriction.
http://www.roundhoused.com/*The above referer should work.
re: I need you to direct me to the specific doc to customize the connections shortcode.
The shortcode and its options can be found in the docs, here.
Templates can also have their own specific shortcode options. On the docs table of contents page, click the template name to learn more about its options. Likewise for any of the extensions.
Hope this helps!

That is exactly how the multiple category search works. You can search by any one of the groups individually. ie ” all the coaches in Oregon” or “all the coaches that specialize in residential decluttering”. But, you can also do “all the coaches who specialize in residential decluttering AND work in Oregon”. I know you do not need it but that option to query a search like this would work anyway. Actually no way to turn that off.
As for search by state, that is also in the multiple category search add-on. The site I link to as an example does not need it so it was configured not to be a search option.
Does that help?

What you’ll need is a beta add-on I have for multiple category search as seen on this site, the “Find A Therapist” section. If you purchase either the Extension Pro Pack or the Pro Pack I’ll can send this separately via email with configuration instructions. It is a little difficult to set up, but as a service I do provide installation and configuration as an option. If you are interested in this service I can provide a quote when you I send you this add-on.
I hope this answers your question thoroughly.
ps. This addon is compatible with all the template.

re: when I shrink the browser window, the business names display in small caps and links on business names do not go to businesses, instead the home page reloads.
When I visit the site on a desktop, with varying window sizes, everything seems fine. Same on mobile devices. When I say fine, I mean that the text does not change to all caps and the links continue to function as they did before changing the window size. The window size would not affect the links at all because links are all created the same regardless of the window size or device.
My suggestion… force refresh your browser so the latest files are are downloaded from your site instead of locally cached (possibly old) versions. Also, if you are using any sort of page caching, via a plugin or server config, clear the cache.
Hope this helps, let me know.

What was the solution you found for the title link? As for randomization…
Randomization occurs every hour on the hour (according to the time set on the server, not necessarily the time on your clock) for every user based on IP address. As an example, lets say user A and user B both visit the site at the same time, they would both see the entries in a different random order for the remainder of the hour in which they visited. After that remainder of the hour has expired, they would both see a different random order.
There is no way to change this behavior for the widget. This is in place to support pagination of a randomized list. I know pagination does not apply to the widget, but the same code is used for the list as the widget.
Hope this helps!
