Ok, if the widget is still incorrect, then I’m guessing you upgraded from a much older version. Don’t your have backups that exist from before you upgrade Connections? If you do, open one up and see which version you were running. If I had that older version number I could do a diff and look at only the changes made. That way I might be able to identify what change was done that would cause this for you.
Without access or the previous version from which you upgraded from, I’m not sure how I can resolve this…
How good are you at editing PHP code? If you are comfortable, I could give you some changes to try.

Generally when an admin has trouble, it has to do with their testing process. Have you followed the guidance given in the FAQ I linked to in my previous reply?
If you are certain you have and the user and the entry were linked correctly, Link is functioning correctly. There is nothing more for you as an admin to do. It is designed like this so the admin does not have to worry about the process. The only way to have Link do its thing is to have the user you wish to have linked is to have them logout and back in.
If you as an admin want to “force” the process, install the User Switching plugin. Link was made specifically to be compatible with it. You can use it to “log in” as the user and the entry will be linked as if the user had logged in themself.
If you are finding that the directory entry is not being linked, the first thing to check is the email addresses. The second thing to check is if that directory entry has already been linked to another user. If it has been linked to another user, it can not be linked to another — even if you change the email address of both the entry and the user. The link between the two is persistent.
If at this point the entry is still not being linked to the user, click the Copy action for the entry on the Connections : Manage admin page, do not save the copy yet. Open the Manage page in another tab and delete the original entry. Now Save the copy. After this, you can repeat the User Switching for “force” a link.
Hope that helps!

Ok, When you do have an opportunity to get back to this, also try these conflict checks:

If you have access to the old site and the version of Connections installed is current. YOu can use the CSV Export tool to export the entries.
The CSV Import extension then can be used to import that file. Just be sure to not map the
Entry IDfield when you import.Hope that helps!

My first suggestion is to try to increase the memory allocated to PHP.
let me know if that helps!

I just took a look… When I search for “gym” I get 4 results. It seems to be working fine for me. Did you make any changes since posting this?

The forum does indeed send out notifications unless you’ve opted out by unchecking the notify my option before submitting a reply. Another possibility is the notification is being filtered to your spam/junk folder or the supplied email address is invalid (perhaps a typo).
Let me know what your learn!
ps. The client already trusts me per say since they are running my code (Connections), perhaps that will help in your discussion with the client.

In all the locations or just the widget?

No, you only need to deactivate and delete the Connections Business Directory plugin because that is the plugin you are rolling back to the old version.

Custom fields are possible but require coding to add and to display. Here’s a developer tutorial on how to add custom fields.
Hope this helps, let me know.
