Yes, unfortunately because of a feature within WordPress called canonical redirect, queries made by Connections, when used on the static front page, will get routed to the blog page by WordPress. I have come up with a solution, but it is not nearly ready … so for now, Connections can not be used on the static front page, sorry.

Sorry, presently there is not a way to do this. I haven’t come up with a method for this that won’t need massive amount of queries to the database.

Does your webhost have a file manager in the control panel? Most do. I suggest try deleting the entire folder using that file manage and then recreate it and then upload the files.

I definitely believe the theme is the cause. On line 479 of the theme’s style.css file the background color of images are being set to white. Not knowing why the theme author made that decision, I do not recommend changing that, so we’ll override it only when a Google Map is shown within Connections. Add the following to the to the end of the theme’s style.css file:

.cn-gmap img {
    background-color: transparent;
}

That should fix things up.

Problem solved. Ubermenu also includes the Google Maps API. I turned it off in its settings and everything seems fine now. The reason disabling the Google Maps API in Connections didn’t work is because the version that Ubermenu loaded occurred after if is required by Connections, so Connections would fail to load the maps. At any rate both Ubermenu and Connections will work fine using the version Connections loads
