RE: shortcode changes

Actually Connections applies fixes when the page/post is saved. It takes care of the most common issues I’ve run into while supporting users. Primarily removing HTML tags and making sure the shortcode is not wrapped in code tags. That was a big one. Since implementing this awhile back, support issues around the shortcode have dramatically been reduced.

That said, I guess it would depend on what changes you are seeing. Could you elaborate?

RE: blank page

I guess I would first suggest [increasing the memory limit](WordPress Memory Limit). That’s usually this issue when this is encountered. Since you’re local, you might have to do it in the php/apache config.

If that does not work, try deactivating all other plugins temporarily.

What did you bump the memory too? Are you able to confirm that the change is actually being honored. You can check the the Connections : Tools System Info for memory info.

How many entries are you attempting to display at once?

What version of Connections? The latest version?

Could you try:

• How do I check for a theme conflict?
• How do I check for a plugin conflict?

It works when logged in. When logged out, the server is responding with an error code 400. So, something that was updated or installed might be blocking access to the WordPress AJAX API.

Sorry, not, not at this time. A possible solution is the Custom Entry Order extension. You could order your “featured” entries so they are positioned at the top of the list.

RE; Do any of the templates (but esp Circled) have the ability to show just a single entry, like a nicely formatted Vcard at the bottom of a blog post? Ideally that links back to the page with the full directory.

You’ll want the Widget Pack. It includes a search widget that can be placed in the theme’s sidebar or embedded in a page with a shortcode. Alternatively, or in addition to, all the premium templates includes search above the directory.

The search will search the fields enabled on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Search tab.

RE: I’d like to include some hidden fields in listings, such as common misspellings and nicknames, that will be searched, but won’t show up in peoples’ listings.

Sorry, there is not such a feature built in. You could add this to the entry’s notes field and then not display the notes field but let the search return results found in the notes field.
