Ok, now I understand. Disabling that would not make it possible to limit a search to with a specific category and not easily undone.
I do understand the issue. Its on my to do list for this summer to show, something, to show where a user is search and for what keywords with a clear results button/link.
I think that will resolve the confusion some users run into.

KeymasterAre any of the other characters on the same page? For example, last names that begin with “M”, clicking “M” should take you to where they being in the list only if they exist on the same page. If that is the case, which version of Connections and Tile Plus do you have installed?

No, the search input for Connection will not search the article index. Most users put the widget in their sidebar with a title something similar “Search Directory”.

The character index, rolodex, has never filtered by character. It will only jump to the character group of the character clicked if that character group is on the current page of results. This functionality is slated to change this summer to filter by character sometime this summer. About 90% of the work is already complete as you can see it already functioning on the Manage page in the admin.
Hope that helps.

Sorry, but Connections does not integrate with the default WordPress search. Premium templates such as cMap, which you have installed does have search. If you need search outside of the template, there is the Widget Pack. It has a search widget that can be placed in the theme’s sidebar.
I hope that helps.

Just going thru the morning support ticket … hoping this means you’ve resolved the issue. Looks like some fancy quotes were being used in the shortcode. WordPress doesn’t support those being used in the shortcode.

The first question…
Did you put the Connections shortcode on the page? Take a look at Step 4 in the QuickStart.
To change the labels, you have a couple options.
One, you could try the suggestion posted by this user.Another option could be the Say What plugin. I can’t vouch for it because I haven’t tried it for myself yet. But I think it should work.

Are you talking about the placeholder word “Search” in the search input field?

Nothing is built in at the moment. Other users have set the
categoryshortcode option to an empty category. No results will be shown this way until a selection is made.Steven Zahm

The memory assigned to PHP is being exhausted. I recommend setting at least 128MB. Here’s a link to a post that has instructions for several ways to increase this setting.
